About this Cook
I grew up on a farm in Indiana and had many opportunities to learn cooking from my mother who still at 89 cans her own food. I really didn't get interested until I moved into an apartment and met a girl who cut out recipes & tried everything. Now, I can cook just about anything and make my own recipes or revise other's to improve to my own tastes.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are desserts, but I enjoy making any time of food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We all share in the family meals by bringing our favorite dishes which depends on the time of year and the reason for the dinner.
My cooking triumphs
I use to be afraid to try any recipe without exact measurements or vary the ingredients. Now, I will try anything new.
My cooking tragedies
We all have a time when a recipe crashes for one reason or another. I've had many and will probably have more.

Sopapilla Cheesecake Pie
We loved this recipe. It was a big hit. I used regular vanilla and it was too much butter on the top, so next time I'll cut it back to about 1/4 c. I also found the crescent roll dough in a full sheet instead of the can for individual rolls, so that worked out great. I've already passed this along to all my friends. A must try for sure and a keeper.

Habanero Hellfire Chili
We really liked this hot but tasty soup. We don't eat ground round or ground pork, so I substituted ground turkey. My grocery store was out of Habanero, so I just added more Anaheim peppers. I also don't use bouillon granules, so I used soy sauce instead. It is definitely worth the effort and will make again.

Three Bean Slow Burn Chili
We really liked this soup. It is not for the faint hearted. It is definitely hot, but very tasty. If you can handle the heat, be sure to give this one a try.
