I'm married, a Mother of four girls, I am Mom-Mom to 8 grandchildren 6 boys and 2 girls ages 24 to 8 years of age. Now I am a Great-Mom-Mom of a 9 month old little girl Elli. Beside cooking I paint, sew, draw, knit, crochet,do wood working. I try just about anything. My youngest grandchildren spend a week with us every summer, I teach them to draw, we go places and have a lot of fun. The older grandchildren we have date with, we go to dinner, the movies or some place we think they would enjoy and of course they get to spend the night with us too.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook just about anything, Appetizers are one of my specialtise. I like making up recipes that I call Jennette's Surprizes. The only thing when people like them I have to remember everything I put in them. My favorite thing to cook is Thanksgiving dinner when all the family comes. I have cooked Thanksgiving dinner for as much as 48 people.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When my girls were younger we would make Christmas cookies every year together, keep a total of how many of each cookie we made and the next years tried to beat the total the year before. We were putting cookies in 5 gallon drums,of course we had to give some away. Also, since we have birthday in our imediate family every month by June, July and August. We have birthday dinners every two months and everyone comes. We have games for the kids as well as the adults. I try to see my family as much as I can. My daughters were always asking for recipes that I have made so about 12 years ago I made them each a cookbook called "MOM"S BEST" in a large 3 rings notebook, it has grown to over 500 recipes.
My cooking triumphs
When I took a cake decorating class and I made a Beer stein cake for my Father's birthday with foam and everything. He really enjoyed that cake.
My cooking tragedies
When I first got married I knew how to cook I had to cook for my Father and my brothers when my Mother worked at night. I thought that I would try this recipe I found in a magazine or newspaper. It was 2 hamburger with tomato sauce between them. I made the hamburger put the cheese and sauce between them put them in the pan for the required time, put them on the plates with some salad had my husband come to the table and we doug right into hamburger pate. The meat was not finished cooking but they did look good. Needless to say I never made that recipe again. Over the years there have been some other tragedies, just minor ones like I made rolls to take to my Mother-in-Laws for Easter one year (I had made these before and they turned out great)but I must have handled these to much because you could throw one at someone and knock them out they were as hard as bricks but they did look good.
