Maple Walnut Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Made this pie to take to work--followed directions exactly and got rave reviews. I thought it was very good just the way it is, but I like to experiment, so when I made this for Thanksgiving dinner I made a few changes. I didn't use a graham cracker crust, I made a flaky pie crust. I also used the reduced fat Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk, 3 tablespoons of PURE maple syrup, 2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice and fresh pumpkin. For the topping I used 3/4 cup of chopped walnuts as the half of cup seemed to be lost in the topping. Will definitely make again.

Spooky Witches' Fingers

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
Loved this recipe. I followed the cookie recipe without any changes using top quality butter because after all this is a shortbread cookie which gets it's flavor from the butter. I did not use the gel, but instead used strawberry jam mixed with a little red food coloring. Some of my guests would eat the witches fingers and others wouldn't even look at them....so funny! Will make again next year!!! Thank you!

Sweet and Spicy Popcorn

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
OH MY.....I just can't stop eating this popcorn. I love popcorn to begin with, so when I saw this recipe, I figured I would give it a shot. I cooked my popcorn in the pan, then used spray butter (Pam) to coat the popcorn, and put all the spices in a shaker jar and just shook it all over the popcorn! Scrumptious. A real different twist on popcorn...thank you for sharing.

Applesauce

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
Thought the recipe was excellent--I cut back the sugar to 1/4 cup because the apples I used were sweet enough. I put the applesauce in a processer just to chop it up a bit more---was like having apple pie without the crust. My DH said he would prefer to have this than store bought applesauce. A nice healthy treat on a cool fall night....thanks

Pumpkin Parfait

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
I thought this recipe was very good--but then again, I am a huge pumpkin fan. I did follow the reviews of others and used the LARGE box of Jell-o instant vanilla pudding. Next time I plan to try the french vanilla pudding---yum! I topped it off with some whipped cream and crumbled graham crackers--a nice fall treat. Thank you!

Groovy Green Smoothie

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
I thought this was excellent--lots of banana flavor. I followed the recipe exactly but used a frozen banana and flavored yogurt (because that's all I had) and it turned out perfect. My husband asks for this smoothie all the time--great healthy drink for both us! Thank you for a great recipe!

Laurie's Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2009
Shepherd's pie has always been a favorite of mine--however, my husband is not as fond of it. I made this exactly as stated leaving the green pepper out--and my husband LOVED it. Now I know that I cannot make shepherds pie without a pie shell for my hubby....

Smooth Sweet Tea

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2009
I am a northerner, but recall the delicious sweet tay I had in the south and have been craving it when the weather up north gets warm. I decided to check allrecipes.com (my favorite site) and found this recipe. I followed it exactly except for the amount of sugar which I cut back to 3/4 cup per other reviews. Personally, I still found it a bit sweet for my taste, so next time I will start with a half cup and taste from there. This tea was delicious--and will be my drink this summer!!!

Sweet and Sour Sauce II

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
This was GREAT! I used rice vinegar, used 3/4 c brown sugar (and may cut back more next time), used the pineapple juice from a large can of pineapples instead of water and a couple splashes of soy sauce. I threw some of the pineapple chunks in the sauce (just like the chinese restaurant)--it was awesome! I paired this with the fried butterflly shrimp on this site....oh boy are you in for a treat!

Chocolate-Filled Crescents

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2012
I found this recipe in a Hershey's cookbook when I was a kid. My Mom and I made these together using regular size milk chocolate chips instead of mini chips. Before we put the chips on the croissant, we sprinkled cinnamon and sugar, then put the chips, then rolled it up. Since then, I have been hooked--and now make them for my husband who loves them. Did I mention that eating one straight out the oven with the chocolate warm and melting and a glass of cold milk is just heavenly? ENJOY!

Peanut Butter Bars I

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
Is there a more perfect combination? Peanut butter and chocolate?? LOVE IT. Brought these into work and got rave reviews and some new friends :o) I melted 1 1/2 sticks of butter with the peanut butter to help the sitrring process. I also used 3 cups of graham cracker crumbs and used a 7x11....it doesn't get any easier than this....thanks Nancy!

Warm and Spicy Autumn Punch

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
Yummy!!! I made a single batch for me and the hubby on a crisp fall day in October--it was perfect. I prepared the punch as directed and poured it into my small crock pot and kept it on low so that we could enjoy it while working outside. I did not bake the oranges, but instead just studded them with cloves and tossed them in the crockpot--so pretty and smelled awesome. I adjusted the spices according to my taste-which means that I added a few more and might ad mulling spices next time....such a wonderful fall drink. Thanks Michele.

Butternut Squash and Spicy Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
I thought this was very tasty, but I did make some changes. I added some minced garlic, used brown rice plus more than a 1/2 cup to thicken up the soup. I used sweet turkey sausage and sauted it in chardonnay and topped off the soup with some mascarpone cheese as suggested by otehr reviewers. My hubby liked it as well...I will be making this again as butternut squash is my favorite. thanks Dena!

Onion Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
AWESOME--I made two changes-used olive oil instead of vegetable oil and used brown rice instead of white rice--it was great, and so EASY. This will be used quite often in my household. Thanks Denyse!
