Play Dough Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2010
These were sooo much fun to make! Some reviewers complained of a bland taste, well this a butter cookie recipe and not a sugar cookie recipe so it won't be as sweet. Next time I'm going to try a sugar cookie recipe and see how that works. Great recipe for kids---the kids gobbled these right up!

Simple Roasted Chickpea Snack

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2010
I really enjoyed this little snack-- I did one tray at 45 minutes which resulted in a softer chickpea then did one tray at hour and a half which resulted in a more crunchy chick pea. Personally, I prefer the crunchy. This is a great snack and the spices can be adjusted to a personal preference. Thanks for a great recipe!

Scalloped Potatoes and Onions

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2010
Thought this recipe was just ok. I know it's not a cream based recipe, but both my husband and I thought it needed more flavor--maybe some spices? Will try again and add spices.

Fluffy Whole Wheat Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2010
Followed the recipe exactly except I used a 1 tablespoon of honey instead of sugar. Paired this up with a bowl of corn chowder on a winter's night. Thank you for the great recipe.

Honey Wheat Bread I

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2010
Followed the recipe but added a 1/2 cup of honey instead of a 1/4 cup---what a fantastic bread--came out perfect. My DH loved it! Thank you for such a tasty recipe--I will be using this again and again! Updated: I froze one of my loaves and though it wasn't as enjoyable as the fresh one, it was PERFECT and better than any other bread for french toast. I will make this often!

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
Followed recipe exactly and thought it was pretty good. This is the first time I've made a boiled fudge with marshmallow creme; it was a nice change, but not really what I'm looking for.....thanks!

Easy OREO Truffles

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
Thought these were delicious. I used mint oreos and reduced fat cream cheese and feel that it left the inside a bit "doughy", so next year I may use the regular cream cheese. I reserved 9 cookies for toppings as the recipe stated, however, I feel that 3 maybe 4 would have been plenty and used the remaining in the mix. I dipped mine in Baker's white chocolate mixed with some crisco to give it a nice shine and much easier to dip. I sprinkled with cookies crumbs and also colored sugar---so pretty and very tasty.

Amazingly Good Eggnog

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
WOW---I made this on Christmas Eve (1/2 a batch) for my DH and myself---this is just awesome. I normally buy my eggnog but find that every year it becomes more and more expensive; this is a great alternative and tastes so much better. I followed the recipe exactly for a serving of 6 but only used a 1/2 cup of rum which I feel was more than enough for us. I didn't make enough for everyone this year--and I refused to share---so I'm hoping that next year I can surprise everyone with this superb eggnog! Tahnk you for sharing.....this will be my go to recipe for eggnog from now on.....yummy!

Valentino's Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
Followed the crust to a T --was a very good thin crust pizza. Next time I will add some spices to the crust---a nice change from the thick crusts I normally make...thank you for sharing!

Yummy Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
A friend of mine usually makes the sweet potato casserole with marshmallows-but for our taste it is always way too sweet--covering the delicious taste of the sweet potatoes. I found this recipe and simply altered the sugar in the sweet potatoes, cutting it back to only a 1/4 cup. I also suggest doubling the topping to make it nice and crunchy! I didn't have pecans on hand, but did have carmelized walnuts--DH loved it.

Maple Walnut Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Made this pie to take to work--followed directions exactly and got rave reviews. I thought it was very good just the way it is, but I like to experiment, so when I made this for Thanksgiving dinner I made a few changes. I didn't use a graham cracker crust, I made a flaky pie crust. I also used the reduced fat Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk, 3 tablespoons of PURE maple syrup, 2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice and fresh pumpkin. For the topping I used 3/4 cup of chopped walnuts as the half of cup seemed to be lost in the topping. Will definitely make again.

Spooky Witches' Fingers

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
Loved this recipe. I followed the cookie recipe without any changes using top quality butter because after all this is a shortbread cookie which gets it's flavor from the butter. I did not use the gel, but instead used strawberry jam mixed with a little red food coloring. Some of my guests would eat the witches fingers and others wouldn't even look at them....so funny! Will make again next year!!! Thank you!

Sweet and Spicy Popcorn

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
OH MY.....I just can't stop eating this popcorn. I love popcorn to begin with, so when I saw this recipe, I figured I would give it a shot. I cooked my popcorn in the pan, then used spray butter (Pam) to coat the popcorn, and put all the spices in a shaker jar and just shook it all over the popcorn! Scrumptious. A real different twist on popcorn...thank you for sharing.

Applesauce

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
Thought the recipe was excellent--I cut back the sugar to 1/4 cup because the apples I used were sweet enough. I put the applesauce in a processer just to chop it up a bit more---was like having apple pie without the crust. My DH said he would prefer to have this than store bought applesauce. A nice healthy treat on a cool fall night....thanks
