Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
This is the perfect recipe for a quick dough. I made a complete pizza in about 45 min. A couple of things I found convenient: I oiled the top of the dough and placed it in a metal bowl in the oven while the oven preheated. After a couple of minutes it was nice and warm and super easy to spread on a greased pan. Then I prebake the dough before adding sauce and toppings. I usually make dough in the bread machine, and that takes 1 1/2 hours. this dough was ready to bake in just 10 min. Perfect!

Coconut Bon Bons

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2011
I love these! I accidentally used a full can of sweetened condensed milk, so I had to add more coconut and powdered sugar. I then chopped almonds and mixed them in the filling! Fabulous! I dipped in Ghiradelli dipping chocolate. mmm. Love these!

Fluffy Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2011
Light, fluffy, yummy! I followed the recipe except I used half butter and half shortening. Yummy! I quick froze half on a cookie sheet and then put into a freezer bag to bake a couple at a time later.

Glazed Cinnamon Biscuits

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
Excellent and super easy! I add an extra TBSP of butter into the middle, and then add some thinly sliced apples and some raisins. They taste just like the breakfast biscuits from Hardees.

Ghirardelli® Peppermint Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2009
We really liked these brownies! I didn't have a 9x9 square, so I put them in my 8x8...I don't think I would do that again...they were REALLY thick. I increased the baking time by 10 min, and they were still a little underdone. I think I would put them in a biscuit pan next time. They taste yummy, but they're not the nice slim looking brownie in the picture...they were more like cake size! But really yummy and fudgy good!!!

Soft Onion Sandwich Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
I ended up with 2 batches of these...the first time I accidentally added water instead of milk but didn't realize it until after the bread machine was mixing...so rather than throw it away, I just let it go and made another batch with the milk. I could hardly tell the difference. I made them by the recipe but I didn't have any onion powder left, so I omitted that...they were phenominal! We ate them warm as hamburger buns...yummy!

Cardamom Braid

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
Great recipe. I added extra sugar, as the bread I grew up with was a bit sweeter. I also made 2 smaller loaves and baked at 325 since 350 made my first loaves a bit dark on the bottom. Great bread machine recipe. The cardamom is perfect!

Italian Bread Using a Bread Machine

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2009
Super Easy and relatively quick. I can't believe how nice this turned out for my first try at baking bread! I use my bread machine for making cinnamon roll dough and pizza dough, but this was my first try with actual bread Next time I may try to make one large sized loaf like they do in the stores, but it was super easy and wonderful fresh out of the oven. I put the dough on parchment paper with the cornmeal and then right in the oven...baked wonderfully!

Syrian Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2012
I made these to go with some italian sausage soup. I brushed with a little italian seasoned garlic butter and sprinkled with parmesan cheese. Not a traditional pita, I know, but they were fabulous! We were eating them warm right out of the oven! yummy! I used leftover pitas for pizza crusts for my kids' lunch. Perfect to let them "decorate" their own and carry it to the oven. love this bread idea...so versatile!

Chocolate Caramel Candy

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2009
I made these as Christmas gifts this year. The only thing I did differently was make the caramel myself rather than buying and unwrapping caramels. I cut them into pieces, put them in small paper cups and filled a nice 8x8 holiday box. It made for a simple homemade gift, and I got great compliments on them from everybody!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
This is my favorite cookie recipe! I love to make them with the mini York Peppermint patties instead of chocolate chips. They're hard to find, but if I look hard at Christmas time I can find a few bags and stock up for these cookies. Otherwise, Andes mint pieces would be great too!

Pasties II

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
Just like the pasties we made at church for fundraisers as a kid. I always use ground beef, and I like to season the meat as it cooks...I throw in some salt/garlic/pepper/and whatever else sounds good. Sometimes I use Famous Daves Steak and Hamburger seasoning mix. I also like to make sure the crust is super thin (a little healthier I suppose. So I doubled the crust recipe and made a triple filling recipe and there was just a little leftover crust! You can't mix the filling wrong, so just add veggies until you feel the ratios are right! After they've cooled, wrap them in tinfoil and put them in your freezer...they're great to heat up when you don't want to cook!

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
I make this soup regularly. I always add fresh cilantro and some sort of beans, black, pinto, chilis w/o sauce, etc. It's a hit every time I serve it. It's the perfect soup to whip up quick with on-hand ingredients! I just dump it all in a pot and let it simmer. Definitely top with cheese and chips. I sometimes use cheddar.

Colorful and Edible Play Dough

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2011
I had to add lots of extra flour to make it the right texture, but it turned out to be the nicest, soft playdough! I omitted the kool-aid and then split a half batch into 4 balls and made different colors with food coloring. I'd say a half batch made the equivalent of 4 store bought playdough containers, so a full batch would make 8 containers....lots of playdough! Excellent recipe and we'll be making this lots. Make sure to mix the oil in really well before adding the water...i used my fingers to crumble it and it turned out great!

Dee's Roast Pork for Tacos

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2012
I used pork loin with the layer of fat trimmed off. I added about a cup of chicken broth, some cumin and a quartered onion and left in the crockpot until tender. Then I shredded, added a bit more chicken stock and let sit in the juices until dinnertime. Fabulous! Served with Mexican rice and quacomole on soft shells....yummy!!!!!

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2009
Excellent homemade cake. I made a 9x13 cake and had some left over to make small individual bundt cakes in my pampered chef stone. Next time I'll make 2/3 recipe and that should fit nicely in the pan. It's a nice, dense homemade cake. Rave reviews every time I make it!

Honey Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
I also used 1/4 cup of honey and 2 c wheat and 1 c AP flour. Next time I will add a little more salt as well. An excellent recipe...so nice to have fresh bread without any fuss. I did not bake in my bread machine. I greased a small loaf pan and baked for 25 min at 350 degrees.
