I am a mother of 8. I work in adult foster care; before that I was a preschool teacher for 8 years. My husband also works in adult foster care and is in the National Guard.

I like cooking BIG... sort of a must in my house.
Budget cooking (also a must).
I try to impliment a "new food night" at least once per month in my house where we try something we have never had before.

Pancake breakfast on Sunday mornings.
My cooking triumphs
When I was 16 I spent over 8 hours picking crab apples, washing them, cutting & coring... making the pie crust from scratch...
When I presented my crabapple pie to the family no one wanted to try it. When they finally did it was gone in less than 10 minutes & they were all asking for more
My cooking tragedies
When I was 10 I tried to invent a new malt flavor. Grape juice concentrate with icecream... not good. Dad tried to pretend he liked it, but was very thankful when I said it was horrible.
