About this Cook
I love all aspects of food, whether it be cooking it at home or dining out. I love to try new cuisines. I have attended both Thai and Italian cooking classes, and also attend food preparation sessions where you prepare complete meals in advance to freeze - then just thaw and cook!
My favorite things to cook
Lately, I am getting more into cooking authentic Thai food from scratch, and have been trying out the recipes from this site
My favorite family cooking traditions
I got taught to cook at a young age and have a real interest in food and cooking. I usually like quick cook meals but have recently got into slow cooking (would not be without the slow cooker now!) and I bake/roast a bit more now than before. I would like to brush up on BBQ cooking for summer.
My cooking triumphs
I make a good banana cake...had alot of practise. My new "best dish" I would say is Tom Ka Gai (Thai Chicken and coconut soup)It's delish!
My cooking tragedies
I don't really have alot of disasters or ones that can't be fixed, however, I did recently make a lasagne that was too runny! UGH! Runny meat and runny cheese sauce...it was still edible ...just

Salmon Hash With Potatoes & Dill
Overall - a Great flavour combination. I was a bit unsure of ketchup and mustard...but it turned out very tasty. I will keep this recipe but would cut out some of the oil. I was intending to make 2 portions but ended up eating it all in one go! I added some capers to add a bit of zing - but quite fine without them.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken
Quite nice but I didn't double the sauce, so didn't have enough to baste during cooking. I cooked at a lower temp as well. The flavour didn't really come through as much as I expected and it was starting to dry out.

Curried Cumin Potatoes
Quick, easy and very tasty! I made these as per recipe but after reading others comments, added a little lite coconut cream and chicken stock. They were a wonderful addition to my South Indian Lamb on rice.
