Wiener Winks

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2013
I have a co-worker who makes these with her students and recommended them. Her husband ate them as a kid. This isn't a gourmet meal, but it's kid friendly and extremely simple to make. I didn't use the butter and they turned out just fine. On nights when I'm pressed for time or I'm not sure what I should make for my family, I sometimes turn to this recipe. It would be great to put leftover chili in a baking dish along with this so that you could have chili dogs. This also helps to stretch your food budget because it's very inexpensive to make this recipe.

Easy Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2013
I am a frazzled, busy Mom of two who has a husband who works varied hours. This recipe was fast and easy. My only change to the patties involved putting them straight into the baking dish and I used onion powder in place of the dried, minced onion. Also, I sprinkled dried onion soup mix over the gravy before it went in the oven. This was good with a baked potato along with fresh fruit.

Baked BBQ Meatballs

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2013
We had this for Supper tonight and I didn't have any leftovers. The only change I made to the BBQ sauce is I had to use pumpkin pie spice instead of nutmeg, but it turned out really well! Also, I substituted onion powder for the onion and used Italian bread crumbs in place of the crackers. We will have this again soon! I put the meatballs and BBQ sauce over a baked potato which was a little different, but it was good still.

Easy Tomato Crab Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2013
I am a Mom of two and need QUICK, EASY meals on the double! This was a wonderful grown-up meal that my husband and I enjoyed. I'm sure that my toddler would have ate this, but I decided to give him a kid friendly meal instead. I did use a can of evaporated milk and garlic powder instead of the half and half cream along with fresh garlic. Also, I added a small can of tomato sauce because I thought it was a little on the watery side. This fixed it for sure. I added dill like someone recommended previously. Also, I added a little marjoram along with salt and pepper. When I served it, I put mozzarella along with parmesan cheese on top of it. It was a complete meal with focaccia bread served on the side that I got at our local grocery store. The only thing that I may do different in the future is puree this soup and then add the crab along with the evaporated milk or the half and half cream after pureeing it. Overall, this recipe is a keeper and will make its way to my kitchen table again:). Thanks for sharing it with all of us. This would also be wonderful with a spinach salad of some type.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2012
Holy Moly Macaroni! This is wonderful! Even my toddler, who is a picky eater, ate a little bit of this tonight. It was very simple to make and I'll be making this again. I was out of celery, so I used a pinch of celery salt in it. The only addition that I made to this is a pinch of marjoram spice because that is something that I always like to use in soups, gravies, and casseroles if it seems like it fits. Also, I was out of chicken bouillon cubes, so I used about 1 1/2 cups of chicken broth instead. The next time I make this, I can't wait to try it with the celery and the chicken bouillon cubes because it will probably make a world of difference.

Quick Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2012
This is the exact tuna salad recipe that I've been using, but I've added shredded cheese to it since my toddler likes shredded cheese. I definitely will try a little brown mustard and some onion powder since I'm not a huge fan of onions.

Cindy's Snappy Sensational Superfood Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2011
I'm trying to stick to the Mediterranean Diet and lower my cholesterol, so this recipe DEFINITELY fits my dietary needs right now. To my dismay, my husband brought home about 5-6 pounds of turnips when he came home one day from work! What on EARTH am I supposed to do with turnips? This was what I thought on Friday. Well, I looked at your website and knew I'd figure it out. Thank you SO MUCH for posting this recipe! It will be used again in my house and I won't shy away from turnips in the future. I thought that the cinnamon added an interesting flavor and I really didn't even notice the bitterness of the turnips. I added a little bit of diced onion and also a bay leaf that I shredded up. My husband suggested that I add chicken to this in the future and we'll see what the leftovers are like tomorrow with the chicken that I added to this soup. It sounds like this is a vegetarian soup, but I added about one piece of baked chicken to this. THANKS AGAIN, CINDY!

Italian Style Flounder

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2011
I'm a busy Mom, wife, teacher, and grad. school student online so I have hardly any time. This is WONDERFUL recipe! It's restaurant quality and so easy to make. I did add a little Italian seasoning to it and added an Italian shredded cheese combination I've been getting for years. It has asiago, mozzarella, parmesan, and american cheese in it. This was WONDERFUL and I'm definitely adding it to my rotation of meals. My husband seemed to like it and cleaned his plate.

Crispy Baked French Toast

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2011
I used Captain Crunch that was crunched up instead of the Panko Bread Crumbs because that is what I had on hand. Instead of using the butter and oil, I used cooking spray. I used 1 1/2 eggs that were egg whites and this turned out just fine. My cholesterol is a bit high so I felt like this was a needed adjustment. I reduced the milk down to 3/4 C. as well. We're only a family of three and just need 4 slices instead of 8 slices. I also used Lactaid milk since my son is lactose intolerant and this turned out beautifully! I did add a little pumpkin pie spice for some more flavor.

Crazy Crust Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
This was a simple, easy Supper recipe! My child is lactose intolerance and I'm trying to lower my cholesterol along with lose weight. So, the take out pizza is out of the question. Why have I been getting pizza for so long from a restaurant or the frozen food section? I LOVE THIS RECIPE! After reading some of the reviews, I decided to use 1 1/2 C. of flour and 1 egg. In order to lower the cholesterol value, I'm going to use Egg Beaters next time and I'm going to try to use whole wheat flour as well. I also added garlic and onion powder to the pizza dough. My little one got soy cheese on his part of the pizza and Daddy along with Mommy had italian cheese on our part of the pizza. I don't want to mess with yeast and measuring water temperature so this recipe caught my attention. The crust was a mixture between a hand tossed and thin and crispy crust which is just perfect for me. I know pizza dough is more convenient, but this was I can customize the dough according to our needs. Thanks allrecipes.com!

Slow Cooker Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
This was a tasty dish, but it needs a few changes to it. I put a can of chicken broth over the potatoes after this had been in the crock pot for about an hour because I was worried that it was going to burn. For this reason, I would suggest that you completely cover the potatoes and increase the water for this recipe so that the potatoes don't burn. For my son that's lactose intolerant, I saved potatoes for him before putting in cream cheese and a little bit of milk. I may have accidentally put in too much garlic powder and next time I think that I'll use fresh garlic instead.

Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2011
This recipe is delicious, simple, tasty, and has healthy food in it. What more can a girl ask for? I did add dry onion soup mix to the meat mix, put the cabbage head in the microwave for 1 1/2 min., added shredded carrots to the meat mix, and added two soup cans of water to the pot I was cooking the cabbage rolls in because I was afraid they'd burn. I don't know if this is "toddler approved" because my son had a tummy ache so he ate leftover spaghetti instead. My husband said that they were "alright", but I never get a big reaction out of him since he eats almost anything:). He finished everything on his plate so he must have liked these and he normally doesn't eat cabbage. I'm going to try this in my slow cooker next time and add a tiny bit of marjoram to the sauce since that's something that seems to go well in sauces. This is a wonderful addition to the meals that I like to cook for my family. Thanks!

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
This recipe was a hit with my husband, myself, and our one-year-old who is starting to get picky about what he eats. I think that I must have used a little too much broth because it came out runny and I didn't cook my carrots before I put them in the casserole dish so I added some extra water thinking that the carrots might need this when they didn't. I gave this a five because the taste is OUT OF THIS WORLD! I did add a tiny bit of garlic powder and beef bouillion granules, but beside that and homemade beef broth I pretty much stuck to the recipe. My husband and I got seconds and this is going in his lunch tomorrow so I know that he liked it. I would recommend this if you're looking for a meal that has a lot of vegetables that you would like the whole family to eat. I will try peas in it next time to see if that works well also.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2010
This was my first time EVER making sugar cookies. I tried to make a cookie that was similar to sugar cookies with potato chips in it around Christmas time a few years ago and didn't realize just how tricky a little cookie could get to be! Anyway, these turned out well. I didn't have almond extract on hand so I used vanilla extract which didn't taste so well. This cookie tastes a little bland and I thought that it needed a little too much flour. Other than that, I gave it five stars because it does hold up very well and I have a cookie that raised really well. This is also a sturdy cookie as well. I haven't frosted my cookies yet, so hopefully they will taste better once they are frosted. I'll try the almond extract and a few tweaks like people suggested the next time that I make these. Yes, I will make them again during Christmas time and they won't just be a one time thing during Halloween. These were excellent cookies and very sturdy!

Dad's Asian Slaw

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2010
I absolutely LOVE this recipe. There were a few things that I changed according to my taste such as using broccoli slaw, raspberry vinagrette(1/2 C.) and canola oil (1/2 C.), and I also added in a little bit of edamame and leftover chicken that I needed to use. I was out of green onions so I simply used minced onions from my spices and this turned out beautifully. I'm sure that the regular version is just as good. I would recommend putting in the ramen noodles JUST before you serve this as another review recommended. They get too moist if they are put in to the salad and then left over night.

Crab Bisque

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2010
This was wonderful with a chopped salad and french bread from my favorite restaurant. I did "soup" this soup up a little bit, though, by adding 1/2 tsp. Italian Seasoning, 1/4 tsp. onion powder, and 1/4 tsp. minced garlic from a jar. I also used low fat milk, low fat cream cheese(per a previous suggestion), and I also added a leftover baked potato from the night before that I had diced up. This was WONDERFUL with these additions. However, I don't believe that I will be adding 1/2 tsp. of Italian Seasoning and will reduce this to 1/4 tsp. of Italian Seasoning instead. The curry is a MUST in this recipe and do not skip out on this spice. I will be adding this to my rotation of foods. The best parts of this recipe are that it is very quick, delicious, and elegant.

Easy Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
I'm a new bride and a future Mommy all rolled into one package:)! I was craving tuna casserole and I know that it's fairly inexpensive to make. This recipe was nice and I always add or change things when I make recipes for some reason. I used two cans of cream of mushroom soup, one can of evaporated milk, a little onion salt/garlic powder/pepper, and I added in a little corn that was part of my leftovers. Plus, I added in cheddar french fried onions into the casserole along with an extra can of tuna along with some cheese slices. My husband loved it and I love it because it's creamy comfort food that's easy to make! I did add a little butter into this also because I know that is something that my Mom has always added to her tuna casserole over the years. I added some peaches on the side to this and it made a complete meal!

Butterscotch Potato Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2009
I'm a cookie novice and intermediate in terms of cooking food that I need in order to survive obviously. This sounds like an easy recipe, but it isn't because the cookies spread out a little too much. They do taste wonderful and I love the sweet/salty combination between the butterscotch chips and the crushed potato chips. My husband loves these and asked for more some other time. I think what I'll do in the future is half the recipe per someone's suggestion on this board along with using parchment paper which was another suggestion offered as well. All in all, I do like these cookies but they need to be tweaked just a little bit and I'll call my Mom to see what she suggests. If you do want a lot of cookies fast it is definitely a little cookie that makes a lot fairly quickly;)! Thanks for sharing this recipe.
