Best Toffee Ever - Super Easy

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2011
I do not consider myself a novice cook by all means. This was a flop. I will try again after I get over the pain of the expense of my failure!

Slow-Cooked German Short Ribs

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2011
ok, this was a really good recipe - I have to admit though that I am not a fan of short-ribs. Too much fat for my taste; I like my meat a lot leaner. I did enjoy the flavors of the sauce and the meat was tender. I will not make again, but the recipe did a great job with flavor.

Mrs. Sigg's Fresh Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2010
I actually made this last year for Thanksgiving and never rated it - but I loved it!!!!!! There isn't really any more work than the canned pumpkin - maybe a little more time. But, this pie is really homemade! I did increase the spice as others suggested. This didn't taste like a traditional "pumpkin pie" that we are probably used to - but I bet our Grandmothers used to make it this way - LOVED IT!

Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2010
I actually made this recipe last year for Christmas - but kept making it over and over again. It was a big hit and once again is Gluten Free. I also add salted peanuts and it tastes out of this world! Am heading to Costco right now to get the stuff in bulk :)

Beef Tenderloin With Roasted Shallots

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2010
I made this for Christmas Eve since I didn't want to overdose over the holidays with too much ham and turkey. Wow; was this great. I made 1 change due to one of my guests being gluten intolerant. I used corn starch instead of flour. (Trader Joes sells gluten free beef broth). My dinner was an absolute hit. I did everything during the day up to the baking of the beef tenderloin - this made everything extra special easy so that I could relax while entertaining my guests. 7 people rated this a 5!!!!!!!!! (PS - my roast was 4 pounds and we had plenty of leftovers)......

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2010
ok, I make packaged cakes all the time and am never really please with the lack of the chocolate taste in the cake. I made this cake in a 9x13 loaf pan, cut it down the middle (after freezing it for a while, this cake is so moist it falls apart). I spread chocolate mousse in the center (1 small chocolate instant pudding, 1 cup milk, 1 cup heavy cream, mix, chill and then spread evenly on cake center). And then added the cream cheese frosting from this site and had the most incredible chocolate cake that I have ever tasted. Not the easiest cake to decorate since it is so moist, but well worth it cause the taste is out this world. I

Tangy Apple Chicken Loaf

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2010
The prep time was at least 30 minutes for me, but the end result was really good. My family turned their noses up with the idea of "chicken loaf" but were pleasantly surprised at the wonderful taste (even the texture was great!) I made this with mashed sweet potatoes and broccolini. Will definitely make again.

Strawberry Angel Food Dessert

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2010
As is I rate as a 4. I did add extra whipping cream (about 1 c to the coolwhip) - I am not 100% fond of angel food cake but next time would use pound cake. This cake actually tastes better the next day

Black Bean and Corn Salad II

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2010
I made exactly (well almost, used lime juice). I had my family for dinner and lets say that is not an easy task! This is gluten free and dairy free. It was totally awesome, we all really enjoyed it and will enjoy it in the years to come....

Refried Beans Without the Refry

Reviewed: May 7, 2010
Yummy, yummy, pretty darn good. Great taste, a little dry when you are used to canned refried beans, but have loads of flavor!

Pico de Gallo Chicken Quesadillas

Reviewed: May 7, 2010
I made this NEW recipe for a little "Family" Mexican party and they were a hit - especially the Pico. I didn't change a thing. I cannot wait to make again

Mexican-Style Goulash

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2010
This is super easy and doesn't take a lot of ingredients. I love it! I do add more spices like some cayenne pepper and cumin for extra flavor as well as more garlic powder - my family loves it and it is very filling. PS - you can use any kind of diced tomatoes - I used hot chili ready tonight - fabulous!

Lemon Cream Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
These were pretty tasty. I used the Whipped cream cheese frosting from this site. I made for a Wedding Shower and not only did they taste good, but were pretty. I do not know if I will make again because a boxed mix is just as good and less work.

Pecan Tassies

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
Well, these tasted great, but were not the most beautiful cookie. I have been making a similar recipe for years. I added about 1/4 cup of powdered sugar to the crust recipe, I think this helped to add a little bit of sweetness which I think the crust usually lacks. For some reason my filling appeared a little dried out. Definitely not as pretty as the picture

Phenomenal Chicken and Pasta in Creamy Pesto Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
Finally 5 stars from my Husband. (It is our little joke to have him rate each recipe, this is his first 5!). I love this recipe. Didn't change a thing! (except for didn't want to waste a whole can of broth so used boullion cube and water instead). I am eating leftovers as I write this review. The only negative thing that I have to say is that this is not budgetwise! This is definitely one of my favorite recipes - Thanks!

I didn't have any problems with these cookies. Actually, they were quite easy to make. Mine are not as pretty as the picture, but taste great. They definitely will make a good cookie for gifting.

Egg Noodles

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
This is the 2nd time that I have made these now. I do use my kitchenaid with the bread hook. I also use these noodles to make my own chicken and noodles. Using chicken, onion, celery and broth. Delicious. Reminds me of a dish that my mom made a very long time ago. True comfort food.

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2009
ok, this was easy and tasty! I did use a roaster to bake in the oven (which help with the stirring as well) and also 4 cups of popcorn = 1 quart. Not as much popping as one might think. Only 2 pans for me to pop.
