About this Cook
Malaysians are known for their love for food. My grandparents come from the East coast, where traditional dishes are sacred and revered. Although my mother's favourite way of cooking is to have someone else do it for her, I enjoy it a lot.
My favorite things to cook
I love pasta, as well as Tex-Mex and super-flavourful Asian dishes. But, judging from the response I got, my best dish would be the Bacon-wrapped Smokies, whose recipe I found here!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We're big on barbecues and group-cooking. Some of the fondest memories I have with my family were around a hot plate, making okonomiyaki (savoury Japanese pancakes) or grilling meats for a Korean barbecue.
My cooking triumphs
Undoubtedly my crab quiche I made for a party. I used puff pastry for an element of surprise, and I think everyone liked it! :D
My cooking tragedies
Desserts. Any kind.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes
Followed the recipe to a T, but added a tiny bit of vanilla into the batter. The best pancakes I've ever had. Fluffy and thick and soft and buttery. No idea why I used the boxed stuff when I could've whipped this up in no time flat. So good!

Authentic Chinese Egg Rolls (from a Chinese person)
I just made these for a tea party, and let me tell you, I wish I had made more. I made 30 pieces and they ran out within 10 minutes!I had to omit the bamboo shoots (the store ran out) and I used some shiitake mushrooms for more flavour, but besides leaving out MSG, I followed the recipe to a T. Thank you for the awesome recipe!

Vietnamese Fresh Spring Rolls
I always make these without vermicelli, but I add in julienned carrots, spring onions and blanched glass noodles. For the sauce, try frying a small shallot in a little oil until brown, then add in rice wine vinegar, sugar, and sesame oil, and thin out with a tbsp of water. Toasted sesame seeds is also a good idea.
