Slow Cooker Scalloped Potatoes with Ham

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2009
Deciding at the last minute that I wanted to make this, I made it in the oven instead of the slow cooker. For my size family, I doubled the recipe and made it in a 9x13 pan. I had Mexican cheese on hand instead of cheddar. The only other change I made was I was very concerned about the amount of liquid. We like creamy scalloped potatoes over the delicately sauced potatoes. I ended up making 2 1/2 times the amount of sauce and it turned out very nice. My family said to definitely make this again.

Buffalo Chicken Wing Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
Personally, I liked this a lot! But when I asked my family to rate it, they only gave it 2 stars. It has great flavor but they requested a creamier soup and more chicken.

Greek Pasta with Tomatoes and White Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
This will become a lunchtime favorite of mine! My family did not care for it but I found it light and flavorful. Not to worry about my family not liking it .... it appeared to be "healthy" for them.

Roasted Beets 'n' Sweets

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2009
Very simple to make and very tasty! I only gave it 4 starts because it was just a bit too peppery for my taste but my family gave it 2 thumbs up and requested I make it again. Great way to get healthy root vegetables in our diet.

Green Chili Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2009
We doubled the recipe and layered it in a 9x13 pan. Was even better the next day! Try a dollop of sour cream on top.

Great flavor. Be sure to pound the chicken breasts thin for even better flavor.

Everyone loved it just as it is. I have made it several times and added any veggies I had leftover. Always wonderful.

Pork Supreme

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2009
Great way to use leftover pork. Very tasty. We had it over spaghetti but I bet over rice or mashed potatoes would be even better.

Oven Fried Chicken III

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
2 out of 5 of us asked for this not to be made again. I think the salt/thyme combination was too much for them. The chicken was very juicy and tender. I think if I were to make it again, I would eliminate the salt. I personally found the flavor to be quite addicting!

Tacos in Pasta Shells

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
4 adults and 2 teens all liked this! We were divided 3:3 on if it should rate 4 stars or 5 stars, but since I gave it 5 stars myself, that is the rating it gets! It was pleasantly spicy. Not too much, not too little. I doubled the recipe but followed the instructions exactly including adding the salt, which I rarely ever do. Next time I may eliminate the salt and see what the difference is. It was not salty tasting at all but I just don't like to add salt to my cooking. We had bowls of the sour cream and sliced black onions on the table to add to taste. This is definitely a "keeper" and we will make again. Thanks for a great recipe!

Chicken Spaghetti

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2009
Very simple "comfort food." The sauce can be adjusted to meet your needs and likes. Next time I will add garlic or at least garlic mushroom soup, and maybe some green chiles. Very good for a fast meal. I baked it at 350° for 30 minutes.

Steak Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2010
Very tasty! I have to be honest and say I despise bleu cheese even though my husband loves it, so I repaced the bleu cheese with feta. I loved it but my husband pouted! Ha ha! Very filling supper for me although he would have liked a bit more.

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2010
Very simple to put together. I like adding your own BBQ sauce at the end. I really couldn't taste the coffee but it didn't hurt a thing to put it in. Might add a bit more next time .. 50% coffee, 50% broth. Nice and tender. A fun Saturday night supper after doing house and yard work all day.

Busy Day Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
I tried this exactly as wrote, I believe. First off, based on my experience, use the smallest crockpot your chicken will fit in. I used a 5 quart and wish I'd used the 3 quart. May have had more BBQ taste. We kept the skin on but then removed it to before eating and couldn't taste any BBQ. I will try this again but will use just breast and the smaller crockpot.

Cream Peas

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
These peas were super easy to make, had a great consistency, and this is a terrific base recipe. We needed to add a bit of salt to make it perfect and, to be honest, I'm not entirely certain I added the salt called for in the recipe, but once we added a little at the table, it was perfect!

World's Best Potato Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
My family gave this 5 stars! Just a hint .. don't rush the cooked sauce. I should have let mine cook a bit more to make it half a hair more thick No fault of the recipe -- I was in a hurry. Sweet flavored potato salad and still creamy the next day.

Scalloped Potatoes and Onions

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2010
Wish I could have given this a 4 1/2. My 3 teenagers loved this and each gave it a 5. Very creamy comfort food. I made a batch 1 1/2 times the original recipe and put it in a 9x13 pan. The potatoes were done to perfection in 1 1/2 hours ... think they may have dried out or been mush if I'd left them in the whole 2 hours. My husband and I both were thinking of things we could add to give it just a bit more zip, but as a comfort food, this is an awesome basic recipe.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2010
My pickiest eater actually gave this 5 stars, but my husband and I would have liked a bit more sauce. I did make 1 1/2 times the recipe and baked it in a 9x13 pan but it wasn't very creamy. It was very good but not near as creamy as I was expecting..

Sausage Hash With Apples & Sage

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2010
I found this recipe using the ingredient search for hot sausage. Next time I will use 1/2 hot sausage and 1/2 mild just for personal taste. 3 out of 5 of my family LOVED the spicyness ... us other 2 wimps are the ones requesting the mix of mild. Very good. The ketchup sauce truly makes the dish. I served it with poached eggs on top and will definitely be making this again.
