Best Brownies

Wonderful, easy recipe. For extra awesomeness, use coarse sea salt. The exotic crunch made good brownies phenomenal!

Easy OREO Truffles

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2010
The Oreo and cream cheese part was easy, but the melted chocolate part was a study in failure. My truffles look like little piles of poo. Tasty little piles of poo. Not as easy as the recipe suggests, wish I had read more reviews for hints on chilling them before dipping.

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
Super easy recipe that makes beautiful, yummy cookies. I did leave out about 1/4c flour, because the dough was so doughy that I couldn't mix it anymore. Great to make with a child!

Baked Dijon Salmon

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2009
Our favorite salmon recipe ever. I used regular old French's mustard and roasted almonds, and it was totally phenomenal. Great with roasted potatoes and French green beans. Not fishy at all! Delicious.

Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2009
I would give it 4.5 stars, if possible. Very easy, great heat, good way to make precooked shrimp edible quickly. I did not like the cooking smell, and even the dish smell wasn't really mouth-watering, but it tastes good. I used the recipe exactly with 1 lb. precooked shrimp. I steamed about 1 cup of Archer Farms frozen mixed stir-fry veggies and added it to the pan while cooking, then garnished with some roasted almonds for texture. Higher points for ease, simplicity, and speed than taste.

Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2009
Just what I was looking for in a frosting! I used almond extract instead of vanilla to frost a pumpkin spice cake. Nice and thick. I didn't sift the sugar, and i'm still satisfied. I can't stop eating the frosting out of the bowl!

Crunchy Oven Fried Tilapia

Reviewed: May 24, 2009
Delicious way to make easy, crispy fish! I omitted cornmeal and added a dash of flaxseed-- maybe 1T. Served with brown rice, carrots, broccoli, and a quick and dirty aioli of light Trader Joe's mayo with minced garlic and a dash of lemon juice.

Southwest Chicken

Very nice and filling! I didn't have cumin, so I used garlic powder, chili powder, and a dash of cayenne pepper for seasoning. I also browned an onion with the chicken and served everything over brown rice. So easy to make from kitchen staples, and a great way to kill a craving for Mexican food without breaking the nutritional bank!

Creamy Dill Cucumber Toasties

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
Easy and delicious appetizer. Perfect combination of cool and crunchy and creamy, and the dill adds just the right amount of zesty. Be sure to buy 2 cucumbers-- I cut my cuke into 20 slices an had loads of the cream cheese mix left over, as well as plenty of baguette, which I enjoyed with butter.

Pumpkin Cake II

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
Our favorite cake EVER! I follow the recipe exactly and always use the Pillsbury yellow cake mix that contains pudding in the mix. This time I made the cream cheese frosting from this site and adored the end result. So soft and moist! Pumpkin haters can't even tell it contains pumpkin!

Lentil Soup III

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2009
Good, but not amazing. Seemed to be missing something. A bit bland. Made a huge pot of soup, though! Here's a hint: if you're cooking it for vegetarians, substitute vegetable broth for chicken broth, or you'll look like a major doof. Oops.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2009
Absolutely the best meatloaf i've ever had. I dreamed of leftover meatloaf sandwiches for two days. I substituted crushed Annie's Whole Wheat Bunnies for the saltines and used just a little bit of brown sugar and ketchup for the top rather than the bottom. I also used 2 pieces of bread to sop up the grease at the bottom, which worked well. Can't wait to make this again, along with the baby dill carrots and a side of mashed potatoes!

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2009
After reading the rave reviews, I was disappointed. The skinless thighs came out gooey and chewy, and the broiling did not produce the lovely crust in the photos.
