About this Cook
I have been seriously cooking- actually making things from scratch- for about 8 months now. Of course, school has interfered with my cooking but I make meals as often possible. My dream is to go to the CIA, and become a nationaly known chef... not like it's likely to happen, but... I'll keep wishing!
My favorite things to cook
I am a total health nut; almost everything that I make is either healthy or I alter to make as healthy as possible. So, that being said, I like cooking almost anything healthy. I'd have to say, though, that I am currently addicted to chopping green beans and carrots. So much fun! I think there are so many things I enjoy about cooking that it would be insanely hard to pick a single genre as a favorite.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Really the only "tradtion" that I have is my mom and I are vegetarians. We have been so for about four years, and I think it is a lot of fun seeing how so many dishes can be turned into or created as vegetarian dishes. Becoming vegetarian has opened up so many horizons!

Light Coconut Cream Broccoli and Barley Soup
I did not really care all that much for this soup. The flavour was rather not to my liking, and there was just something about it that did not sit well with me. I will not be making this again. It is edible, but nothing more. I am, however, glad I tried it- the idea is good.

Apple Cole Slaw
This is a favorite at my house. It's nice because I normally have all the ingredients, and for some reason this really seems to fit the bill for cravings that I have for something like this sometimes. Like others have said, I coat the apples with the lemon juice to stop them from browning. This is such a quick and easy recipe!

Dennis' Honey-Mustard Salad Dressing
Holy cow! This has to be the favourite dressing at our house- and that's saying something, because we have tried so many dressing recipes. This works well with fat free mayo, too- just make sure you whisk it well to get rid of the lumps. Once I substituted agave nectar for the honey, and that made the dressing quite a bit sweeter. Great either way!
