About this Cook
I'm a mother of 3 and a translator/interpreter (French to English.) Through university (and little beyond) I worked in restaurants and travelled Europe and North America, always discovering new food and drink.
My favorite things to cook
Now that I have a family, I loooove my slow cooker! I love to pull the skin off a chicken, rub seasoning all over it and cook it on high for 3-4 hours. No need to go to the local rotisserie anymore! I also like to make soups and pasta dishes and we love seafood, and greatly enjoy our seaside holidays.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Quebec is famous for its cuisine: tourtière, pâté au saumon, pouding chômeur, tarte au sucre à la crème, and of course all our maple products. I love making these, and truly look forward to our réveillon, the Christmas Eve feast.
My cooking triumphs
Some things just never go out of style; nearly every day through the winter I have a pot of soup on the stove. I do best with meals that cook a long time, except of course for stir-fries and pad thai.
My cooking tragedies
Getting used to my new convection oven, I blush to say I burned a few things! Oh well, my kids are very forgiving, and when my son comes form his dad's place in Ontario to visit, he claims he only wants Mom's cooking, no restaurant meals for him! My daughter often calls me the five-star chef, and that warms my heart. Oops, this section was supposed to be about cooking tragedies lol!!

Country House Bed and Breakfast Casserole
I added about three handfuls of fresh spinach to the mix the night before. I put the timer on for 20 minutes, pulled it out, found the ham on top was browning too I covered the casserole with thin processed swiss cheese slices, as that's what I had on hand, popped it back in for 10, pulled it out when the cheese started browning, covered the casserole with foil, cooked the final 10 minutes. Let it sit for a few minutes, then sliced it up and put it on hamburger buns. Kids loved it. For mine, I added sliced vidalia onion and buffalo wing sauce to spice it up, and gobbled it up! Next time I'll use 6 eggs as everyone else says, and maybe the cheese sliced will go on a bit later in the cook, and the ham underneath the egg mixture. But there will be a next time for sure!!!

Impossibly Easy Mini Cheeseburger Pies
As someone else mentioned, this is a great springboard recipe. I added crumbled bacon, chopped dill pickles and garlic and onion powder. I intend to make this again, this time with ground lamb and curry... chicken and celery...turkey and cranberry sauce. What a great way to use up leftovers, and the kids loved it! Thanks!

Chocolate Cherry Upside Down Cake
Made it exactly as specified, and topped with homemade whipped cream. This is now the family Black Forest Cake. Top marks for simplicity without relying on boxed cake mix. A winner! Thank you Janice.
