I'm a mother of 3 and a translator/interpreter (French to English.) Through university (and little beyond) I worked in restaurants and travelled Europe and North America, always discovering new food and drink.
My favorite things to cook
Now that I have a family, I loooove my slow cooker! I love to pull the skin off a chicken, rub seasoning all over it and cook it on high for 3-4 hours. No need to go to the local rotisserie anymore! I also like to make soups and pasta dishes and we love seafood, and greatly enjoy our seaside holidays.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Quebec is famous for its cuisine: tourtière, pâté au saumon, pouding chômeur, tarte au sucre à la crème, and of course all our maple products. I love making these, and truly look forward to our réveillon, the Christmas Eve feast.
My cooking triumphs
Some things just never go out of style; nearly every day through the winter I have a pot of soup on the stove. I do best with meals that cook a long time, except of course for stir-fries and pad thai.
My cooking tragedies
Getting used to my new convection oven, I blush to say I burned a few things! Oh well, my kids are very forgiving, and when my son comes form his dad's place in Ontario to visit, he claims he only wants Mom's cooking, no restaurant meals for him! My daughter often calls me the five-star chef, and that warms my heart. Oops, this section was supposed to be about cooking tragedies lol!!
