Butternut Squash Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2015
I loved this soup, but like the others, I also roasted the squash in the oven for about 40 minutes at 350 to make it sweeter. I also added nutmeg and cut the cream cheese in half. Oh, and based on personal taste, I cut out the cayenne pepper completely. It's delish. Highly recommend.

Holly's Hummus

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2014
This is a delicious recipe, although I did omit the olives because I don't like them and also for the high salt content. I also added more garlic for flavor, and sesame seeds for crunch. I really liked it a lot. Thanks!

Fast and Friendly Meatballs

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2014
I made this tonight and we loved them, but as other reviewers have stated, it needs spices, which is why I rated it a 4, not 5. I added garlic, onion powder, a little pepper and parsley. I also added sage but thought it was a little too much at 1/2 a tsp, maybe a 1/4 tsp would have been plenty. Also, I left out the cheese in the recipe (we're lactose intolerant) and also the salt some reviewers suggested, because turkey and the bread crumbs put this meal over 300 mg. of salt already - which is plenty. I also used Pam instead of the oil to save calories and grease. Cooking time was perfect, and I appreciate the tip to use an ice cream scooper, which keeps all the balls around the same size so they cook uniformly. This is a good, basic recipe which even my picky husband loved. Thanks!

Pantry Curried Quinoa with Garbanzo Beans and Roasted Peppers

Reviewed: May 25, 2014
I liked this recipe, but think it had too much curry powder. We didn't have any so we used chili powder, and cut it way down because we don't like too much heat. We could also have cut out the red peppers; I think that they are not necessary. But the rest of the flavors are great. We didn't have raisins, and didn't want so much sugar so we used slightly sweetened cranberries, and I forgot to toast the almonds, but it was still very good, thanks!

Easy Fish Tacos with Mango-Pineapple Slaw

Reviewed: May 25, 2014
This had WAY too much salt, pepper and Vinegar in it - fortunately I cut down the pepper, eliminated the salt because cod and tortilla's have enough salt in them, but unfortunately I didn't cut down the vinegar. It was ruined and way too acidic because of it, even on the mango and pineapple, which could have been nice. I also eliminated the jalapeno pepper because we don't like hot stuff. Also, in my opinion, a fish tortilla needs tomato to taste good. My cod came out great, but we threw away the sauce. Maybe with changes, a teaspoon of pepper, no salt, and a teaspoon or 2 or vinegar, it would have been good. What a shame.

Hot Carob

Fantastic Hot "chocolate" - loved it. Tastes like real hot cocoa, but it's healthier with carob. Great for us because chocolate gives us headaches! Thanks for sharing!

After-Thanksgiving Turkey Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2010
This soup was good, but I agree it was too bland. Also, it would have been helpful to put the 3 quarts of broth as a note into the ingredients, as I halved this recipe (under "calculate servings"), but it, and I didn't half the broth. I had to make up the difference with the full ingredients.

TOO much SALT. Husband ate it, ended up with a major migraine from the salt. :(
