Belle's Hamburger Buns

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2011
these were great. They seemed sweet even though there is only 1 tlbs of sugar in them. I used half wheat and half ap flour. I over baked mine and they came out quite dark and the crust seemed hard and crusty, but when I bit in to them they were so soft. The crust was not even chewy. I made these with black bean burgers, very yummy.

Buttery Yeast Spritz

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2011
Wow these are awsome! Well, I cant say I made them exactly. All I had on hand was wheat pastry flour so I used that. I also cut the recipe in half and I tried to add 1 tsp of my mexican vanilla but I spilled and propably put in more like 1 tbls lol. I do not have a spritzer so just dropped them by spoon fulls on the baking sheet and smooshed them down. They aren't sweet and have a great butter flavor. These are quite tender and a little dry but I'm sure that is a result of the wheat pastry flour. I will be making these again, even with the wheat pastry flour.

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2011
I thought this was great as is. I did use button mushrooms which im sure makes a difference. So making this with portobello mushrooms makes it better. I had left over turkey so i added it in my left overs the next day. It was even better.

Asparagus Roll-Ups

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2011
I loved these. I used cheapest bread( I do not recommend it) so it crumbled on me when i tried to roll the asparagus. I would suggest using a wider loaf of bread instead of your standard Wonder bread size. It would help hold more of the asparagus. I actually doubled the asparagus and bread but used the same amount of filling called for in the recipe. I though this made lots of filling. I aslo recommend warming your cream cheese filling to make it more spreadable. These tasted awsome but nex time ill use 2 or 3 asparagus in each roll. I just love asparagus.

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
Well, I just dont understand why anyone likes these. I admit they look pretty and its a creative idea, but these were incredibly gross. Its kind of like eating really sweet artificial flavored cookie dough with extra sugar. I used strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting and white chocolate coating. Maybe the chocolate would taste better but this was sooooo sweet and sogy, that I will never eat them. These also took forever to make. You have to freeze the mixture just to roll them nice and round. Then you have to freeze them again just to coat them and they thawed out so fast that by the time I got 1/4 of the way though them they were just melting in my chocolate. I was going to make them for my daughters dance class valentines party, but I have changed my mind...

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2011
I dont understand what I do wrong. My biscuits do not turn out huge or fluffy. They tasted great, and are tender but mine do not raise very much at all. I also think there is way too much liquid in the dough. I have made these several times hoping Ill get it right. I have even cut them extremely thick to get the huge biscuits, with no good results. These just did not turn out the way they promised. They were good biscuits but more like every other biscuit recipe ive made.

Thick Cut-Outs

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
These tasted awsome. The texture was exactly was I wanted. They remind me of the cookies at the grocery store, which I love. All though I wish I could find a sub for egg yolks. Makes me feel guilty when I eat 20 cookies in one sitting:) I only made one change. I used splenda in place of the sugar. The dough was great and I didnt have to chill or flour my area.

Creamed Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
Im not sure what to rate this. It wasnt gross but it was a taste I did not prefer. 4 stars is fare. The cabbage flavor was quite strong, so if you like cabbage then this is quite good. I do like cabbage but this was too much for me. I added extra water to my soup because the 2 cups broth simmered away. I aslo added cheddar cheese which gave it a richer taste for me.

Sour Cream Cut-Outs

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
I liked these cookies. The dough is extremely easy to work with. I was almost like bread dough. I rolled my dough out thick and it doubled in size after baking. They not only looked like bisquits, they had the texture of them too. I did like the taste though. These need to be rolled thin. They dont have much flavor so pick a great frosting. I was looking for the store bought sugar cookie( the ones that are thick with not flavor). Ill try again but make my own adjustments.

This was a great tasting cookie. It was very easy to work with. I didnt even have to chill the dough to roll and cut out. which keeps the kid entertained. Although these were not what I was looking for, these are very tasty. We like the store bought cookie thats cakey and fluffy.

Out of this World Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2011
My husband thought this was great. I did not. I left it in the brine for 2 days like it was recommended, but it turned out too salty for my taste. The flavor was great, so next time ill leave it in for less time.

Peppermint Stick Dessert

My family loves this desert. We love to serve this frozen and top with hard shell chocolate topping. We also leave out the nuts do to the fact not everyone is a nut fan. Save your candycanes at christmas and make this in the summer. Its so refreshing.

Granola Energy Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2011
It was a little too sweet for my taste. The second time I cut back on the honey and added and egg white to help replace the moister and hold it together. I also suggest using flax seed meal or just grind up the flax seed or you will not digest the nutrients from the flax seed.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
I dont know why anyone thought these were cakey. Mine turned out dense and gooey with the edges chewy. Just how like them. I made them as stated in recipe with one exception. I added mint flavoring to my frosting. The frosting was thick and didnt spread well, so next time I will warm the frosting so i can pour it on top. My advice is to mix by hand. I would think that mixing it with a mixer would pump air in to the batter and make it cakey. Just a thought.

Soft Garlic Breadsticks

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
These were super delicious. While making the dough, I thought there was too much garlic in it...but it was perfect. I ran out of basil so i only used 1/8 tsp dried basil and 1/4 tsp oregano. I also brushed the dough with butter, baked them, and brushed with more butter and topped with more parmasan. I only had to cook mine about 15 min. in my convection oven.
