About this Cook
I am a recently married beginner cook! I grew up in a home where pizza rolls constituted dinner, and I am married to a man whose mother made dinner every single night from scratch. I am really learning now, and loving this website!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook almost anything Italian or Asian, although I am not very skilled at it. My husband loves for me to cook any Southern dish, and wishes I would visit Paula Dean's website more often!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom has a few specialty dishes that I am learning, like vegetable beef stew and chicken pot pie. My Meme is a master at Chicken and Dumplings, and my grandmother makes the best homemade hot cocoa in the world. My husbands family is very talented in cooking. His uncle makes delicious oyster dressing for Thanksgiving, and my mother in law is a master at everything in the kitchen. I have to call for advice at least twice a week.
My cooking triumphs
My dad thinks that my potato salad is the best in the world, but it is so easy to make! My husband asks me to make cornbread everyday because he thinks mine is even better than his mother's! And my brother won't drink anyone else's sweet tea.
My cooking tragedies
Homemade pizza. I don't know what went wrong, but it was really terrible. And I burn rolls and biscuits 9 times out of 10.

Easy Guacamole
Awesome! I really thought that it would take a lot to make a really good guacamole, but this recipe is so easy, and very tasty!

Fried Pickles
This was a great recipe! I didn't use very much cornmeal, just enough for a light crunch, but these were very tasty, and I can't wait to make them again!

Seven Layer Taco Dip
This was a big hit when I made it. The cream cheese/sour cream mix made it very creamy, and everyone went back for seconds. I added a layer of guacamole dip just because I like the flavor. I would recommend making this in a very wide dish, I made mine in a tall glass container, and people couldn't seem to get to all the layers at once.
