About this Cook
Lived in S. Florida most my life, moved to Wyoming in june 2006. This high dry climate has been a cooking challenge for me. Love to go 4-wheeling out on the desert, Sturgis rally, snowmobiling or just puttering around here.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook the Hungarian food I grew up on. Italian food is always fun to make. I guess asian is my favorite thing to cook. I have an under the counter cd player, I love to listen to music when I cook. Gormet recipes call for classical, Zen for Asian, and Bluegrass for Country and Southern style.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making Nokedli (Hungarian dumplings) for chicken paprikas, reminds me always of grandma. Christmas cookies with the kids is always fun and messy!
My cooking triumphs
I was having a ton of trouble with roasts after moving from S. Florida (sea level and humid) to high desert country in Wyoming. So I found allrecipes.com and had huge success with the herb crusted chuck roast! So good!
My cooking tragedies
My ham that I baked after I first moved here and was having so much trouble with any roast or baked meats. So I tried a ham, after all, done it a million times down South, how hard can it be. Well my ham came out dry and it was just a disaster....it was also the last straw. My 16 yr old daughter grabbed her camera laughing, and followed me outside and took a picture of me throwing the stinkin thing out across the prairie!!! Hadnt made a ham since until last week, I said to my daughter who laughed when she saw me standing with arms at my side stareing at the challenge before me....an uncooked ham, nothing is going to ruin this ham, I'm making it in the crockpot!! Well, we hardly ever get rain here in Wyoming, but that day a huge lightening storm came and knocked the power out when my ham was about half way done. Didnt get electric back till 9 in the evening. My daughter still laughs about this one! My guy ended up holding back his laughter finishing it on the grill, while

Apple Crisp II
This is a really good one. My changes were; Sqeezed 1/2 of a lemon over sliced apples. 1/2 the white sugar, but did drizzle a little agave nectar over apples. Used i/2 coconut oil minus 1 Tblsp. Added lots of cinnamon and a little pumpkin pie spice. added 1/4 cup of chopped pecans to topping mixture.

Broccoli with Garlic Butter and Cashews
This was the best broccoli dish I have ever tasted. Wow! Unfortunately, there are no leftovers! I had to use frozen broccoli which i steamed and it was definitely a huge hit.42

Asian Barbequed Steak
Really good!!! cooked on an indoor grill, wasnt sure about the type of chili sauce, so I used part sweet, a little bit of hot, and the standard jar chili sauce. Very tender and tasty.
