Grandma's Homemade Banana Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2000
I have used the same banana bread recipe for 20 years. I tried MANY others without luck, until I tried this one. I doubled the recipe and both loves were gone in a few days, something that my kids have never done with other banana bread. This one is a keeper!!!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2001
This is the only bread in our house now, even with a bread machine! There is something very satisfying in seeing this through to the end, especially when everyone gobbles it up--even very paticular kids. It freezes well too.

Italian Spaghetti with Ham

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2001
Super! A great change of pace and a good way to use up left over ham. There was only enough left for my husband to take for lunch the next day!

Alaska Salmon Bake with Pecan Crunch Coating

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2002
This recipe is totally AWESOME! It made salmon lovers out of the entire family and those who I shared the recipe with as well. Don't wait until Christmas to make this. Once a year isn't enough when you are taking as great as this recipe is!

Irish Ginger Snaps

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2003
These were very good. The only thing that I would do differently next time is to cut back on the shortening. 3/4 C seemed to make the cookies taste a bit greasy. Perhaps 1/2 C may work.

Sloppy Joes I

Thank you SO much. My mother always made sloppy joes this way and I haven't had them for years! This recipe is not only wonderful but it brought back many fond memories.

Bud's Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2003
I have made this salad 3 times now and everyone loves it. I did make a change however. The first time I made this, I found out that I had no celery seed ( I could have sworn I did!) so I subbed dill weed for it and it's wonderful. I also don't drain all the vinegar mixture as it gives the finished product a kick. You will not be sorry with this recipe.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2003
My quest for great apple crisp, which has been a long and frustrating one, is over! This recipe is incredible! I made two changes based solely on family preference. I used a 8x8 pan rather than a 13x9 since my family likes thicker apple crisp. I also used 1C. oatmeal insted of the 3/4C. as the recipe directs. Thank you Cheri for submitting this recipe and making every member of my household very happy!

Cracked Sugar Cookies II

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2004
I was very excited about this recipe, but after trying it, I'm afraid all I can give it is 3 stars and I'm only giving it that because ,with some tinkering it can be fixed. I followed it to a tee. but got a very flat, greasy cookie. I think it needs either less shortening or more flour. I thought with the amount of baking powder called for it would be a "puffier" cookie. Also my oven is right on as far as temperature goes and I had to add at least 5 more minutes to the cooking time in order to get cookies that were even remotely done. On the positive side, the large amount of extract makes the cookies very flavorable. As I said, with some adjustments this recipe have good potential.

Mocha Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2005
I am SO pleased with this recipe. The only changes I made were: I used 4 bananas because that is what I had and I used 1T. instant vanilla coffee because, once again, that is what I had. I also used mini semi sweet chips with good results. The clincher for me was the fact that my 10 year old can't get enough of these and with coffee in them I was worried about that. You must try these!

Baked Honey Mustard Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2005
I made this the other night and it was wonderful! Everyone in the family agreed and that doesn't happen too often. I made only one change and that was simply because I did not have the spices called for so I substituted Italian seasoning. It made delicious sandwiches the next day too! Thanks Mary for a fast, easy recipe that is also good.

Portable Chinese Chicken Salad

Reviewed: May 14, 2006
This is my middle son's very favorite salad. So much so, he requested that it be served at his graduation open house last June, where it went over famously! The only change I made was substituting white vinegar and sugar for the called for items. No difference noted!

Meatball Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2010
A very good recipe, even my husband, who isn't a big bread fan, liked it. I did double the amount of meat knowing who I was cooking for and would do so again in the future. The wine adds such a awesome flavor level so don't even think of leaving it out. This is a great way to use up those few pieces of bread that seem to pile up in the freezer.
