Slow Cooker Lancaster County Pork and Sauerkraut

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2011
Definitely would be plain as written. I followed others suggestions and added 2 T brown sugar and a couple red apples. I also added a yellow onion.

Good. I will make it again, but with some spices. It was a little plain.

Red Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
These were very sweet. I tried adding ALOT more salt. That barely helped. Then I added more steak seasoning which made it even worse.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
These were good. I made these for the brussel prout fearing folks at my feast. They did enjoy them. However, I have a better recipe and will most likely opt to make that one over this one. Definitely were tasty though.

Cranberry Baklava

Soggy and tart. Time consuming, yet easy. I probably won't wake again, but the guests liked it.

Turkey Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2010
Way too much soy sauce. I added more sour cream before putting it in the oven. Also baked with cheese and crushed crackers on the top. After baking, it still was very salty and tasted like a mouthful of soy sauce. If there is a next time I will more than cut the soy sauce in half.

Hearty Turkey Stew with Vegetables

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2010
Needs salt and pepper. Also, 2 onions to small amounts of the other vegetables is too much. After cutting up one onion, I knew I needed more of the other vegetables. I more that doubled all others and added some frozen peas at the very end, since our household doesn't like bell peppers. Good, but nothing to write home about.

Good. Too salty and needs more noodles. I also added carrots.

Beef Stew IV

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2010
Good. But not excellent. I took the advice of Donnainnc and added the extra flavors she suggested and was greatly disappointed. It was very, very spicy (and this coming from someone that eats peppers plain and handles spice nicely). I had to hurry and cook an alternative meal for my children. Most of this stew was left uneaten. Please don't add the ingredients she/ he suggests. You lose the stew flavor.

No thanks. I thought this would be the best ever with all the 5 stars. I will stick to my old recipe.

Ham Cheddar Chowder

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2010
Very good, but was in need of a little extra. We added Cholula to our bowls after making the first batch. When I made the second, I added Frank's Hot Sauce. My four year old that dislikes spicy food didn't even notice. With that and a little salt, this would have received a 5.

Spiced Pot Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2010
With all the rave reviews, I thought I would also try this despite the odd ingredients. We were not satisfied with it as a pot roast. The next day we ate it like pulled pork sandwiches and it worked since it was so sweet. But, we will not make this again.

Classic Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2010
The first time I made these, I didn't refrigerate them. Huge mistake. The second time, they were superb. I didn't have chunky PB when I made either batch and they were delicious. Next time I will make the cookies with chunky PB...if I get the PB before I get the craving.

Roasted Almonds Sweet Potatoes

Definitely needs salt. Bland flavor overall. 40 minutes is plenty of cook time. I took mine out 5 minutes early and they were very brown, almost too done.

Garlic Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2010
Fabulous!!!! I took someone else's idea to microwave for 20 minutes. I kept everything else the same. I had three adults at the table and the dish went dry. Only thing I will change next time is to double the recipe. This is the very best red potato recipe I have ever tried!
