Mississippi Mud Pie I

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2015
This was super easy and turned out wonderfully. I didn't use my hand mixer to blend the cool whip and cream cheese, so it was a little lumpy, but I'll make sure to do that next time. I baked the crust for about 5 minutes at 350, and had no issues with the layers not staying together. I did use powdered sugar instead of regular sugar to avoid graininess as someone else stated, but everything else was the same. I'll try variations with different puddings or an Oreo crust, but the recipe is great as is!

Easy Lima Beans

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2014
This was soooo easy and they turned out sooooo good. I added a little cornstarch and water as another poster suggested, and that added a little creamy goodness. Butter, salt, and pepper at the end and you have an easy, inexpensive, and delicious side dish!

Slow Cooker Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2014
I seasoned them with paprika, salt, and pepper and let them sit overnight. I added a tad of liquid smoke to the broth and cooked on low for about 4 hours and then high for 2. I used Sweet Baby Ray's regular sauce and my boyfriend said they were the best he's ever had!!

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2014
This turned out great! I'm only giving it 4 stars because it does need some tweaking. The water is definitely unnecessary because it's almost too runny just from the water baked from the apples. The half brown/white sugar is a great edit, too. I made the apples and crumble mixture ahead of time and refrigerated both until it was time for dessert. I then sprinkled the crumble on top and baked it at 350 for 45 minutes. It is wonderful served with vanilla ice cream and caramel!

Jo's Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2014
I've been making this recipe for years and it is amazing! Like others mentioned, it is just like Macaroni Grill's bread. I've been giving loaves to neighbors for Christmas for years and they love it. Follow the recipe just as suggested, no tweaking needed.

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread II

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2014
This was absolutely delicious. As others suggested, I used butter in place of shortening, and a dash of vanilla and cinnamon. I made 8 small loaves and baked them at 325 for about 30 minutes. Very moist and tasty!!

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2014
These were definitely edible, though I expected more after the great reviews. My brother even commented that they tasted like 'diet cookies'. I will add less oats next time (maybe 1.5-2 cups) since I think that made them dry tasting and less sweet. I had no problem with the shape, but did let the dough chill for about 2 hours and added more flour and baking soda, as others suggested. I didn't cut the salt because I used unsalted butter. Because they didn't flatten much, I had to cook them much longer (close to 20 minutes) and used wax paper. I tried all the different cooking variations as another reviewer did, but none of them were long enough. The tops and bottoms were a perfect color and never browned, so it was hard to gauge when I should take them out. I don't mind a 'doughy' center, so I'm trying a batch now on lesser time.

Grandma's Corn Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2013
I have been looking for a corn pudding that wasn't very bready and actually 'pudding-y' like my great aunt used to make. Unfortunately, this still didn't fit the bill. I only used 4 eggs as others suggested, but I still think that was too many, so I'd suggest using 3. I am also surprised that others thought there was too much corn, because I'd probably add another can next time. It was better than many others, but still not what I'd hoped for.

Award Winning Peaches and Cream Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
If you love cream cheese, you'll love this dessert! I'm not huge on peaches or cream cheese, but everybody else loved it. It was definitely better the next day as the peach flavor set in. I would prefer more peaches and less cream cheese though...

These were great! They cooked in to huuuge rolls, but the taste was awesome--especially with the icing! I will definitely hold on to this recipe.

Spicy Shrimp and Grits

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
My boyfriend loved this, but I thought it had a strange taste...I think it might have been the chicken broth, so next time I'm to use 2 c of broth and 2 c of water. Other than that, it was great. I loved the consistency!

Peach Cobbler Dump Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
Considering how easy this is, it's actually not bad. People seem to be torn on how to do the butter. I cut very thin pats and covered the top. I also sprinkled the peaches with cinnamon and brown sugar and then a little more cinnamon on the cake mix. I drained one of the cans of peaches, used a 9x9 dish, and cooked for 45 minutes which might have been a little too long. I would definitely make this again the same way, but probably cut the time down to 40 mins or so...

As the other readers suggested, I added eggs, half and half, and sugar. It was still too breadlike. Next time, I will cut the Jiffy in half.

Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
These mashed potatoes are awesome! I used a can of chicken broth instead of the buoillon cubes, 1/4 cup of half and half, light sour cream, and left the skin on. My mom said they were the best potatoes she'd ever had!

Garlic Cheese Grits with Shrimp

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
This was okay, but not great. I used everything to a T, but did use a can of Rotel instead of the tomato and used cheddar cubes as I couldn't find the garlic cheese in the grocery store. As others suggested, I cooked the grits in the chicken broth. Personally, I think the chicken broth was just too overwhelming. Next time I'm going cook the grits in 1/2 broth and 1/2 water.
