I'm a musician from Charlotte...I've always LOVED to cook, and working with music jams and renaissance faires, potlucks and baked goodies are my "forte" :). My family is German, so I was cooking about as soon as I was walking. Baked goodies, vegetarian dishes, German foods (spaetzle, kraut, cakes...). Fish stews, squash soups, roasts (pork, of course - the German thing - imagine how hard it is to be a vegetarian in this family!). Apple struesels and pies make my dad happy when nothing else in the world will, and Mom (like me) is a sucker for cheesecakes. Bacon mini-quiches that I made for a friend's wedding reception, my oreo cookie cheesecake and "especial" Ghirardelli chocolate chip cookies...my recent big hits were my first batch of butternut squash soup and my first black bean veggie burgers. My bright idea of doing vegeterian calzones with spinach and zucchini. 1. Not enough sauce. 2. The zucchini just tasted funny with the spinach. 2. They were way soggy. God bless my boyfriend who dove in bravely and ate them with relish, telling me "wow, baby, these are interesting."...
