Bob's BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2012
I use this when I'm in a pinch, but I tweak the heck out of it. I give it 3 stars only because I use it as a base. I go light on the brown sugar because it gets way to sweet. I up the horseradish by a 1/2 tsp, also add a squirt or two of prepared yellow mustard to taste. 1/2 tsp of ground onion. Works great with the the BBQ Beef Cup recipe.

Barbecue Beef Cups

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2012
Pretty good!! Always looking for something kid friendly and ways to use ground beef since we deer hunt and butcher a 1/4 of a steer each year. Realized as I started that I was out of commercial BBQ sauce so I quick whipped up my own which I will do from now on for this recipe. 1/4 cup ketchup, very light 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 tsp ground onion, 1/2 tsp ground mustard, 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp horseradish, 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar, squirt or two of yellow mustrad to taste. In doing this, I ommited to onion to be mixed with the ground beef.

Beef Stew VI

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
Good stew, and made it into a crock pot dish. Ommitted the oil, and used about 1/2 tsp of celery seed since I didn't have any fresh celery. Also used 2 packets of Washington's Rich Broth in place of the bouillon because its already in a crumbled form. (Will up this the next time, because it wasn't salty enough for my taste) What I did do though was mix all my spices and some flour in a ziplock bag, then shook the beef cubes a little at a time in the mix, browned them and then put them in the crock pot. One of the cups of water I put in the pot after I was done browning the beef and got all the trimmings mixed with the water to add to the stew. Put it on low for 8 hours and it was ready for dinner when the family got home from work.

Slow Cooker Venison Stroganoff

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2010
Not bad, still missing something even after I doctored it up a little. Or maybe it was the meat. It was a mix of deer, elk, and beef that I needed to use up before it got too old. I added two cloves of fresh minced garlic, and worchestire sauce to my taste. Only put 4 oz of mushrooms in because its all I had. Also skipped the step of browning the meat because I was short on time. Def was to try it the next time. Made Amish white bread with this and it made it work, also from allrecipes.com.

Corned Beef Omelet

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2010
A different omelet, and a great way to use up leftover St. Patty's corned beef. I used what I had in the house, green pepper and onion, and tasted great. Want to try some fresh mushrooms next time.

Quick and Easy Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
This was one of those moments that it was 9:30 at night and my current pregnancy craving was brownies. Having no easy box stuff on hand, the hubbie and I whipped these together. They were ok, but came out kinda cakey, and I am a fudgy fan. Next time I will try less flour.

Hamburger Stew

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
This was a life saver last night!! My 4 month old was screaming and I literally just started throwing stuff in the pot. Whatever I could get my hands on. I used ground deer meat that we process with a little pork. I didn't have any regular baked beans, but I stole the hubbies can of Bushs Grilling beans, steakhouse recipe. can of diced tomatoes, can of whole potatoes that I cut up, can of corn, two beef boullion packets, some garlic, minced onion and a cup of water. I wasn't sure about the taco seasoning so I held off and added it little by little to my taste buds, no the whole pack. I'd love next time to have more time to tweak it some more and add fresh veggies instead, but it turned out quite well

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2009
Awesome!! I love cornbread, but every recipe I've ever tried has come out to dry. This is moist, wonderful taste, and even cooks well in my hubby's cast iron frying pan. Will make again and again!!
