I am in my 30's but have been cooking since I was a child. My mother didn't love cooking, so I learned from my grandmother. My mom told me that I could cook anything I wanted as long as she had all of the ingredients in the house, and didn't have to go to the store. She recalls one day coming in and discovering a lemon souffle that I had made simply because we had all the ingredients. She still says that it was the most perfect souffle she ever had; I don't really remember!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything that my family and friends will love. I love anything fast, simple, yet delicious!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We love Mexican, and anything comforting. We live in Texas, so we have a bit of the southern thing going on, but we eat pretty healthy, so any twist on the traditional is better for us!
My cooking triumphs
Getting kids to eat new things, is always a triumph for me. I don't really have picky eaters (knock on wood), but some of their friends are picky. I also have a dairy allergy, so coming up with successful dairy substitutes in cooking and baking has been wonderful for me!
My cooking tragedies
I always burn baked goods... thank God for timers! But when we were first married, I found a recipe in Cooking Light (1997) for a Vegetable Couscous loaf. I know, it even sounds terrible! I was trying to get my husband to try new things and eat a little healtier, but even I couldn't stomach this one!
