Fried Chicken with Creamy Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
Sorry for the low rating, we didn't enjoy this at all. The coating was far too greasy, and the flavor wasn't great. The gravy was OK, but I'll stick to my regular recipe.

Lance's French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
This was my first try at FOS... and it was fantabulous! I watched the video posted on this website before attempting it and I combined the two recipes. I heated up some olive oil and butter in a dutch oven, added the onions and sauteed until golden brown. Added wine and cooked until the alcohol burned off. Added sugar and tossed until well coated. Added beef broth, covered and simmered for 20 minutes. Added salt and pepper to taste and continued simmering for 10 more minutes. Poured soup into bowls, added bread and covered with 2 slices of swiss cheese. Broiled until cheese melted and served. YUM!

Oven French Fries

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
This is my 1st try making home made fries.... YUM!! I had to use peanut oil as I'd just run out of olive oil. I also used fresh ground sea salt. As the recipe states to continue cooking until golden brown.. I cooked my fries for an additional 15 minutes, turning every 5 minutes to ensure that they did not burn. My boyfriend LOVED them and asked for more. These fries will be making a regular appearance on my dinner table. Thank you Margaret!

Maple Salmon

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
I've made this twice. First following the recipe to the T and it was good, but I felt the flavor could be stronger.=== The second time I made it, I doubled the recipe and followed some suggestions posted in the reviews. I marinated it wrapped in tin foil to keep as much of the marinade on the fillet as possible. After 30 minutes, I placed the pouches on a baking sheet and baked them for 20 minutes at 400F. While they were cooking I prepared another baking sheet with tinfoil and lightly greased it with cooking spray. Removed salmon from oven. Very carefully I removed the fillets from the pouches and placed them on the second baking sheet, reserving the liquid. Poured the liquid into a saucepan and added about 1/2 teaspoon of cornstarch. Increased the oven temperature to Broil and returned the fillets to the oven for five minutes. Meanwhile, cooked the remaining liquid over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes to thicken sauce. Served over fillets. DELICIOUS!!! My boyfriend and his brother both LOVED this recipe.

Easy Pork Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
DELICIOUS. I followed the recipe almost to the T... I didn't have any shallots so I used green onions instead. Everything was great about this recipe. The smell of it while it was cooking made my neighboring apartment dwellers jealous. I will definitely make this again and again. UPDATE... I tried this again today. As I had plans that were going to keep me away from my home for the day, I decided to make this in my crockpot instead. It was even better! I followed the seasoning to the T... the only difference is that instead of roasting it in the oven, I cooked it on low for 8 hours in my crockpot. The crockpot is much smaller than my roasting pan so the liquids almost completely surrounded the pork. My boyfriend enjoyed it so much he went back for thirds!

Canadian Cedar Planked Salmon

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2009
This was the best salmon I've ever had. I made it for my friend & I while the boyz ate steak. She said it was the best salmon she's ever had as well. I followed suggestions and coated the salmon with lemon juice instead of lemon slices. 20 minutes on medium heat was purrrfect. Definitely going to use this recipe again and again.

Onion Salmon

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2009
I've tried this recipe twice; AS IS WITH NO CHANGES: I found the flavor to be very bland. The salmon required a lot of seasoning at the table. (lemon juice and salt) FOLLOWING SUGGESTIONS: Delicious! I squeezed fresh lemon juice into a bowl and added virgin olive oil. Brushed this mixture on the fillet. (saving extra for later) Placed the fillet on tin foil and formed the pocket around it. Then sprinkled with salt and pepper. Added freshly crushed garlic, sliced onion rounds, and placed lemon slices on top of the onion. Poured the excess mixture of lemon juice and olive oil over the seasoned fillet and placed on a preheated grill at medium-high heat for exactly 20 minutes.

Scalloped Potatoes and Onions

Reviewed: May 31, 2009
I was nervous when this was cooking as it had a thick layer of grease resting on top of the potatoes but it turned out great. I followed the suggestions listed and added some fresh crushed garlic to the layers, and some shredded cheese to the top. Since the most common criticism about this recipe was that it was a little bland I opted to use the "Tex-Mex" shredded cheese by Kraft. It gave the dish a yummy added zing. My boyfriend enjoyed the flavor more than his mom's... his only suggestion was that I add a little more cheese next time. We will definitely be enjoying this recipe again soon. Thank you Dorothy :)

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
This recipe has potential, but I thought it needed some changes. The amount of garlic was WAY too strong, and I think the pork should be browned before placed in the crock pot. I will try this recipe again and hope that these changes make it yummy.

Cola Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2009
YUM :-) BE SURE TO GIVE THIS ONE A TRY I made 3 pork chops with the sauce ratio for 6 pork chops for extra sauce. I also followed everyone's advise and added garlic powder, onion powder and pepper. Then I coated each side with flower and browned them in peanut oil and followed the rest of the recipe. 35 minutes was perfect for these chops.... and the boyz LOVED them.

Foil Barbecued Trout with Wine

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
DELICIOUS! I don't have a BBQ so I baked the trout in the oven instead. We like our fish very well done... almost crispy. So I baked it for 20 minutes at 350F and then I broiled it for about another 8 minutes. I also followed the suggestions made here and added some fresh garlic. We loved this recipe and we will definitely be enjoying it again soon.
