About this Cook
I'm a 31 year old accountant who never even boiled water until I got married 2 years ago, & now I really like to cook and bake! I'm always looking for and trying new recipes. It helps that my husband will eat pretty much anything that I put in front of him.
My favorite things to cook
Mexican food, anything that can be done in a crock pot or on the grill, soups, desserts (particularly those involving cream cheese).
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always sat and watched my mom cook, even before I was ever interested in doing it myself. Now I find it ironic that alot of my food tastes like hers. I also enjoy cooking Mexican food with my brother.
My cooking triumphs
My first family holiday party - 17 people and I cooked it all myself.
My cooking tragedies
I've had many a baking tragedy - a boston cream disaster, some seriously under baked banana bread. I've had some recipe scaling issues too, which resulted in a minestrone that only tasted like thyme.

Southwest White Chicken Chili
I thought this was really good & very easy to make. I did not saute the chicken, peppers & onions, I just threw them all in the pot, brought it to a boil & then simmered for about 45 min. I thought it needed a little something - maybe next time I will use jalapenos instead of green peppers for some heat.

White Peach Sangria
I LOVE this sangria. I've made it several times and it's always a hit. I use peach schnapps instead of vodka and raspberries instead of grapes. I make it the night before so the fruit can soak in it and the raspberries give it a pretty pink color. I serve it over ice and top with a splash of ginger ale. Every time I serve it someone asks for the recipe.
