Mama to 2 girls, 4.5yr & 3mo. LOVE staying home with my girls. Wedding Photographer in the Indianapolis area, like to sew - on a baby sling kick right now.... Love to read - especially historical fiction. Hubby is an IT geek - rather picky - so cooking for him can be a challenge becuz I love to try new things! But I have elicited a promise from him that he will at least TRY it!!! My 4 yr old eats anything though! She loves kale!!!
My favorite things to cook
Ummm...anything sweet?! My challenge is meat - not getting it too dry, and grilling - hard to find the right temp/time. I am bound and determined to figure it out...
My favorite family cooking traditions
Oyster stew and puppy chow at New Years... Copying my mother by baking tons of Christmas cookies and giving them out... Making WAY TOO MUCH food every holiday.... Cinnamon rolls on Christmas morn.
My cooking triumphs
Whoopie Pies when I was in highschool. (whoo! but my mom was upset with the mess it made though!!!) Figuring out to sift my baking powder and baking soda - I HATE tasting little lumps that don't get mixed in.
My cooking tragedies
Umm... where to start... Leaving a glass baking dish on the stove and turning the burner on - it EXPLODED. Making a South Beach recipe of tiramisu and I doubled it but didn't double all the ingredients I think - it was not good. Subbing baking pwdr for soda or vice versa in Home Ec in high school. Those muffins tasted HORRIBLE! You only do that once!!!

French Silk Chocolate Pie
SUPER DUPER GOOD! And not too rich. Took the advice of other reviewers and only used 3/4 cup sugar. Everything else was exact. Beat it with my Kitchenaid and it turned out fantastic. I was worried the sugar wasn't going to mix in and it would be grainy, but after the 3rd egg, it was good. I used organic evaporated cane sugar, and sometimes that seems coarser than white sugar. Also used Ghiradelli chocolate. I made this for my chocaholic 4 year old's bday and she dug in and looked like she was in heaven! Will def make again.

Chocolate Cupcakes with Caramel Frosting
Sensational! Up'd the cocoa powder to 2/3 cup, MUST HAVE CHOCOLATE!! left everything else the same (esp I only use WW flour) and they were dense and rich and a perfect cupcake shape! It made 15 reg size muffins. I made the frosting as well, and it was just ok - It didn't set up super great and wasn't overly carmel-ly, but still a great addition to the cupcake. Will def make again!!

Banana Pancakes I
Made these one Sunday morning (Jack Johnson anyone? :) - super fantastic! Subbed WW flour and added some mini choco chips - were a big hit and the maple syrup really brought all the flavors together, which rather surprised me as I'm not a huge fan of syrup!
