About this Cook
Im a simple easy going person with a great passion to cook. I have been cooking for over 20 years now, but there is always something new to learn. I started cooking at a very young age. Worked in resto-bars, case-croutes, helped out in catering, cooked in parties, waitresed, bussed and washed dishes in restaurants but the best experience of all that I got, was self tought.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook spaghetti sauce,lasagna and a whole lot of things but the most of all is pizza. Expecially my chicken pizza. It's hard to beat!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love to cook at christmas time. I realy cook up a storm. whether we are two or twenty-five, it is allways fun. I start by making french Canadian ragout-pattes de cochon, meat pies (tortieres), turkey, stuffing, gravies, ham and so on and so on and so on... As for the new year, I make all kinds of sandwiches, platters of all kinds, quiches etc... I do like a hot and cold buffet. It's really fun!
My cooking triumphs
I had a special order to make a big batch of white pork and beans for a party. I did my recipe for the beans and put them in the oven. After about 1hour and a half or so, something popped up and I had to leave right away, so I shut my oven off just in case I was gone too long. I was gone a long time. The supper at the party was going to start, and I had to bring my beans! I checked my beans and they were cooked! All I did was reheat them a bit (they were still warm). I brang them to the party. You never guess what. They were the best beans that I have ever made before. They were perfect! People were raving about my beans and all wanted to know my recipe and how I cooked them. They were a realy big hit. I guess the beans kept on cooking slowly in the hot oven anyways even if the oven was turned off. Who would have known.
My cooking tragedies
I used to make a lot of homemade bread at one time. In fact, I used to make it every week. If someone would pop up when I was making a batch, they would grab a bread with them when they would leave whether I liked it or not. So sometimes It would be twice a week. Grrr. Anyways, I went to somebodys place and decided to make a batch of bread. I started my batch and the whole shbang, let my bread rise and all, put them into bread molds and let rise again, preheat the oven. All of a sudden It started smelling a realy strong smell in the house that was very unpleasant. The longer the oven would preheat, the stronger the smell was. So I opened the oven and there was a dead cooked mouse in the oven! I screamed! then shut the oven off. I told the person to check the oven and take that varment out it. We did even better, We totally took the whole oven outside for further investigation and a big clean up! So there goes my batch of bread! All that work for nothing! I was so mad! A tip of advice:

Hobo Beef and Vegetable Soup
This is a very good soup! I added more broth because I love lots of broth in my soup. I mixed chicken, beef and liquid vegetable broth in the soup. It was lovely!

Roxie's Bran Muffins
I thought that this is a realy great recipe! The only thing I did for a change is that I added a little vanilla and baking powder. the baking powder makes them puff up a bit more.

Fresh Pea Soup
I don't care what kind of soup you make, the golden rule is to flavour your soup with stock, not with just plain old water. This is bland.
