Challah I

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2011
First time making Challah. Oh my GOODNESS! This bread was FANTASTIC! Even though I halved the recipe, it made a HUGE loaf...and we managed to eat half of it this evening! Wonderful! Will absolutely make again! I can't wait! 5 Stars! My husband is quite fond of it, and I wanted to surprise him by making it for him. I found a video online to show how to braid a 6-strand Challah loaf. I also used the advice of one of the other reviewers, and halved the recipe, but used 1/2 cup of honey, 1 egg, and 3 egg yolks in the dough.

French Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2011
Awesome!! Incredible!! I made this today, as the first attempt to make French bread. I only slightly modified the recipe, and added 2 Tbsp of olive oil and about 1/4 cup more bread flour into the kneading cycle, as the flour was very sticky. The dough was very easy to work with, and the suggestion of using the ice cubes in the bottom of the oven was terrific. I also baked mine for about 40-45 minutes for a more golden brown crust. We ended up with a crispy, crunchy crust and a moist, chewy center. Thank you for this recipe!

Excellent! Made this today for the first time, having already tried 2 other white bread recipes in the past couple of weeks. This was deliciously light, soft, and wonderful.

Golden Crescent Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2010
Fabulous!! Awesome!! I used this recipe to make homemade rolls for the first time...turned out perfectly!! The only modification I made is I used softened butter in place of the shortening. I also used other reviewers' advice and doubled the rising times (for before rolling & after). I also did as some others as well and divided the dough in half and did crescent rolls for dinner, and made cinnamon rolls with the other half of dough. I rolled them out & prepared them at the same time as I did the crescent rolls, and let them continue to rise while the crescents baked. Since I didn't have any cream cheese with which to make a frosting, I whipped together a quick glaze oh 1 cup powdered sugar, 3 Tbsp milk, and 1 tsp vanilla. Drizzled it all over the cinnamon rolls after the finished baking and they look divine! Now my husband and I can't wait to try them for breakfast tomorrow morning!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2010
Excellent! I tried this pizza crust recipe today; it was the first time I had ever made a home made pizza crust. VERY easy -- not even worth the hassle of breaking out the ol' bread machine. I did pre-bake the crust for 10 minutes before adding my toppings to ensure the crust got nice and golden brown and crispy. Added my toppings, then finished baking until the cheese was all beautifully melted. The crust was delicious and crispy and chewy! Wonderful! Will use forever and ever and am excited to try different types of pizzas now!
