About this Cook
I'm 26 years old and cooking is my favorite hobby. Love trying out new suggestions and recipes. Other than that, I play with my dogs, take lots of pictures and drink lots of coffee since I'm a supervisor at a coffee shop.
My favorite things to cook
Love Southern style. And anything that makes people roll their eyes in ecstacy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother always had home cooked meals for us.... but she didn't pass much of her knowledge down. I primarily taught myself, but still try to recreate her master pieces.
My cooking triumphs
Definately my standing rib roast. I knew when I pulled that off with garlic parmesean mashed potatoes that I had this cooking thing down. ;)
My cooking tragedies
As a beginner, I didn't taste my pie mix before they were baked. Oops! Left the sugar out of the pumpkin pies. They were aweful!

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread
A tasty cornbread. My search for a great cornbread recipe is complete.

Tiramisu II
I've made this three times so far. Tried it with the rum this first time and just couldn't get it down. Omitted the rum and it's PERFECT!

Pecan Pie V
I wish there was a 3.5 rating. The only reason I gave this a 4 was the taste. It had a great flavor but the Thanksgiving presentation didn't fly. My husband wouldn't even try it. No traditional pecan top. It looked very dry. And cutting it... it looked more like pecan crumble than pecan pie. I might make this one again, cutting out some of the sugar for a touch or corn syrup.... it will take some experimentation.
