Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2014
I thought the onion was overpowering, and it lacked depth in flavor. Maybe salt and pepper, and less cumin would have helped.

Unbelievable Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2014
Although I thought the list of ingredients had some great potential, I found nothing amazing about this. Average and not full of flavor.

Quinoa Side Dish

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2014
I thought this had decent flavor, but nothing over-the-top amazing about it. I like quinoa and love the health benefits, but am still looking for that go-to recipe!

Zucchini-Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2011
These are very good and moist. A nice way to use up all that zucchini in the summer. As another reviewer remarked, they freeze wll. Nice to thaw and have in the mornings with coffee when you're on the run!

Soda Cracker Candy

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2011
The first tome I made this I either cooked the mixture too long or left the crackers in the oven a little too long, and it tasted a little overdone with too little toffee remaining. It takes some time to figure it out based on your oven/stove, but it's yummy when you do!

Simple Taco Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2011
This was really a great "staple" recipe for making often this fall. I used 2 cans of black beans, one can diced tomatoes and a smaller can of tomatoes and green chilies. I omitted the additional chilies. a dollop of sour cream mixed into a bowl of this with shredded cheddar and corn chips on the side is divine! Thanks for the recipe.

Darra's Famous Tuna Waldorf Salad Sandwich Filling

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2011
Flavors mix well together. Better the second and third days for leftovers! I agree with other reviewers that regular brown mustard is best. I made both ways and thought the dijon was too sweet. I have also made using yogurt/miracle whip mixture as suggested by others to cut the fat drastically and it is wonderful. Both canned chicken breast or albacore tuna in foil packs work perfectly in this recipe.

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2011
Sorry, but not a fan of these, nor were my kids or sister. Dissappointing given all the fantastic reviews. I made exactly as described. Was thinking all the spices would cause the flavors to mix into something great, but the sweet potato can be distinctly tasted and does not mix well with the black bean flavor at all (and I do like sweet potatoes). The black bean mixture would have been good alone...but be making this way again any time soon.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2011
Wow. You will not want to stop eating once you get started...however, a word of caution: although the flavor is heavenly, this is one VERY rich pie! Next time I would cut back a bit on the butter to overcome some of the heaviness. I did take the advice of others to add cinnamon because it 's such a natural compliment to apple pie. Otherwise, love this. Nothing quite as good as homemade pie! Thanks for a yummy recipe!

Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2011
Delicious and sinful! I love biscuits and gravy, and this did not disappoint. Found it just a bit much to use the drippings from the sausage in the gravy, so be sure to buy a good quality sausage (tend to cook away less, therefore less grease). However, this is a great recipe with good flavor.

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2011
Great flavor. Super easy to make. Made this twice. The first time followed the recipe exactly and the fudge was a bit grainy, but still had good flavor. Second time made it with mint chips & chocolate chips and the flavor was great. This does melt in your mouth! Thanks for a great recipe!

Tomato Chicken Parmesan

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2010
Followed the recipe exactly. Although edible, this was nothing special to me or my family. A bit bland. Not understanding the out-of-this-world ratings.

Peach Pie the Old Fashioned Two Crust Way

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2010
I usually like to make recipes without changes the first try in order to give a fair review. I found the pie did not have much "glaze", making the peaches seem very dense. The flavor was okay, but could have been a bit sweeter for my taste. This is a decent recipe, and I do like the double crust, but just wished there would have been a bit more glaze to balance out the denisty of the crust and peaches.

Country Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2010
This is a wonderful basic recipe that will generally please just about anyone. My changes: I did not have green onion, so I substituted 4 oz of green chilis. I also used italian cheese french bread cut into cubes over the top. The flavor of this was wonderful. Made this for breakfast for a large group while staying in our cabin on a family vacation. I had browned the sausage ahead and refrigerated, and also cubed the bread the day before and stored in a plastic bag, which made it super easy to put together in the morning. Thanks for a great recipe!!

White Chili I

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
This is a flavorful chili, but had too much onion for my taste. I used 3/4 of a medium onion, and still seemed too overpowering. The other spices add good flavor, but next time would cut back to at least half the amount of onion. I did not have the issue of this being too thin...only a small amount of thin liquid in the bottom of the bowl. Great with a little of the cheese and some crackers. It is a bonus that this soup isn't loaded with fat, too!

Cake Mix Cookies VI

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
I used an ice cream scoop to measure out the dough. These cookies were very light and stood about ¾ of an inch tall, and had a nice shape. When tasting, they are very smooth textured and have a good taste, but nothing spectacular to me. I picked up some of the cake mix flavor, and they were a little drier than I like because of the cake mix. I am simply a person that prefers a softer and chewy cookie when chocolate chips are involved.

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2009
I made this exactly as written and was disapppointed. It was very bland. Made it a second time with doubling the cheese and it was much better! Definitely recommend the extra cheese.

Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2009
Had good basic flavor. In an effort to be a litle healthier, took suggestion to bake, and I don't think it worked as well as pan frying in a little oil would have. The crust did not "crisp" well...parts of the chicken had the texture of dried out crumbs, so will fry next time. Nice alternative to plain grilled chicken breast.
