I'm a beginning cook. After getting my Degree in Natural Medicine cooking became very important. We learned in depth, the value of food on health. Since then, I've been trying new things, some good, some really bad and I'm always honing in more and more on what I like and what I enjoy cooking.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, but I don't like how I feel when I eat too much, so I moderate how much baking I do. I also try less sweet baked goods. I like to get creative with what's on hand. If I have a lot of potatoes I'll find interesting recipes for potatoes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love my mom's macaroni and chese, and her swedish (should be called sweetish) meatballs. I don't know if they're titled correctly, but they are delicious!
My cooking triumphs
I baked my first bundt cake recently. Bundt is easy, but it was still a triumph since everyone loved it!
I've recently mastered the Pressure Cooker! Next: pressure canning!
My cooking tragedies
Oh my... I used to cook without a recipe. It was always disastrous. That was before I learned that foods interact together and create harmonious chemistry when properly paired. Now, I learn from recipes. I always cook a new item exactly as the recipe states to find out how I like it. Then I modify it the next time around.
