About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love trying different ethnic flavors. Fortunately I live in a very diverse area, with many ethnic markets. I also love to do "pantry meals", using ingredients I already have at home. I also like to use fresh, seasonal ingredients, and try to stay away from processed or "convenience" foods. I enjoy cooking on the grill, using the slow cooker, experimenting with new spices, ingredients and flavors, and using fresh ingredients, grown locally, or from my own garden.

Venison Gyros
Delicious and easy! I used the tip end of a venison tenderloin, sliced it thinly while it was still partially frozen, and cooked it on a very hot griddle in batches. Served with all the regular gyro accompaniments (tzatziki sauce, feta, onion, tomato.) A real hit with the family. (P.S. - Venison is not something I usually have, but was given some by my son's co-worker. I'm sure it would be great with either lamb leg or beef tenderloin.)

Hungarian Mushroom Soup
This was a very tasty and easy soup. I did add more paprika and some dried pepper flakes (from Penzey's). The family really liked it.
