Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2015
This turned out great!! I substituted cucumber and tomato for bell pepper and egg because I'm not a fan of those ingredients. I took out the seeds and diced them. I didn't have any ground mustard and forgot to add mustard. I think the mustard would have given it a little zing that would have been nice but it was fab anyway. Great recipe!!

Chocolate Fudge Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2015
This recipe was super easy and got great reviews from all who had my cupcakes for a baby shower. I didn't particularly like it but everyone else did so that's good enough for me. I used Smuckers chocolate fudge. I will use this recipe again.

Amaretto Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2015
My daughter wanted amaretto cake for her birthday. I had never made one before and this recipe looked easy and had great reviews. The cake turned out amazing!! I didn't have almond extract so I used vanilla. I made a double batch of the glaze but I think a single would have been fine. I poked holes and filled them with the glaze. I did use disaronno. I will make this again!!

Macaroni with Ham and Cheese Deluxe

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2015
I tried this recipe and he flavor was good but the cheese separated from the milk and was not creamy like my regular macaroni and cheese. I did add a bag of frozen vegetables instead of the tomatoes. I'm not sure if that had something to do with it. But even so, it was a good way to use up the ham I had in the fridge.

Old Fashioned Crumb Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2015
My family really liked this cake. I didn't have buttermilk so I substituted 1/2 cup milk and 1/2 cup sour cream as others have suggested. The cake had a nice flavor and was very moist. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because my husband (The New Jersey expert on crumb cake said it wasn't crumb cake.) I will make it again anyway.

Momma's Cornbread Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2014
I made this for the first time this Thanksgiving. It turned out great. I didn't use sage or eggs. I used complete seasoning instead because it's what my mom always used. I also only used turkey broth. I also put it together on Wednesday and let is set overnight also because it's what my mom always did. Thanks for the recipe.

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2014
I've made this recipe a few times now and it's always a hit. I have followed it using wheat bread, french bread, and whatever else I've had on hand. I have used 2%, whole milk, and heavy cream. I have included raisins, nuts, apples and pears on different occasions. I'm not the most accurate measurer so there's lots of wiggle room because I'm sure I haven't done the exact same thing twice. No matter what I've done everyone asks for the recipe. I do add a little nutmeg and sometimes mix brown sugar with white. I also sprinkle brown sugar on top. I mix everything one day and bake it the next. I think that may make a difference. Thanks for the great recipe!!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2014
Great icing recipe. I think I used more milk than called for but it turned out great. I didn't have almond and sub vanilla but that worked out too. I realized I really need work on my cookie decorating but the problem was me not the icing. Thanks for the recipe!!:-)

Fresh Mozzarella Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2014
I made this for a party that my cousin was having. The only thing I did differently was I sauteed fresh garlic in the olive oil and allowed to cool. Then, I followed the recipe. I also used some type of curly pasta instead of the orzo because it's what I had. By the time I was leaving the party, there was about 2 servings left and though I had no intention of taking it home (only wanted my container) my aunt snapped at me and told me not to take the rest because more people were coming over. I took that as a compliment.:-) Thanks for the recipe!!

Ultimate Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: May 10, 2014
I think this is a really great recipe. I have made it twice now. The first time I followed the recipe exactly except that I used about a cup of heavy cream I had in the refrigerator and I didn't have ground mustard so I used @ 1 tsp of Gouldens. The only only small problem I found with this recipe was that there is way too much cheese sauce. Luckily last time I had some leftover pasta in the fridge so I added it in and the problem was solved. My family devoured it!! I made it again today for a BBQ by request. I needed to double the recipe and ended up with too much sauce again even though I really tried to quarter it.(That's probably on me!!) At any rate, I just made more pasta and now I have more for the party:)

Mari's Banana Cupcakes

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2014
The cupcakes turned out wonderful!! They were light and fluffy! Great flavor too. I followed the recipe exactly as written except that I didn't have buttermilk and substituted heavy cream(just because it was in my refrigerator). I made cream cheese frosting and iced some and left some plain. They all went. I will make them again.

Banana Nut Bread III

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2012
I had three overripe bananas and this recipe looked easy enough. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to mix the eggs, oil etc. together first and then combine with the dry ingredients but since that's what I usually do, I mixed it that way, used the three bananas and added nuts last. Then, I poured batter into a 9x13 pan. It was wonderful!! Thanks for the recipe.

Carrot Cake XI

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2011
I made this today for my mother's birthday. I followed some other reviewer's suggestion by using 1 cup applesauce and 1/3 cup oil, 1 cup sugar, and added a pinch of nutmeg. The flavor was fabulous but the cake was a little on the heavy side. I will definitely make it again but will play with the oil to applesauce ratio.
