Grandma VanDoren's White Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2012
I didn't have bead flour, but turned out amazing none the less! I think next time I'll give it a brush of butter (the top) before baking to give it something a little more special. My picky husband said it was better then wonder bread ;)

Pizza Dough III

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2012
I'm just starting out making my own breads and doughs. This recipe seemed easy enough and I had all the ingredients on hand. I followed some of the reviews and used 3/4c warm water for my yeast, and let it rise about 45-50 minutes (since I had the time to let it) I have to say at 30 minutes, it wasn't doubled, but at 45 is was a pretty close to doubled and was nice and fluffy. It was super sticky when it was first mixed, but a little less after rising. I made sure to flour the board and my hands pretty good and sprinkled some on while kneading it into a ball. It rolled out nice and smoothly (my first good expricence with rolling out dough) and made a nice round XL pie. Pre cooked it for 10mins, then baked with toppings for 20-25. I also added some herbs to the dough to give it more flavor (how we like it) the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because it's a super thick crust. rolled it out to 1/4in and it rose to about a 1/2-3/4in in the oven. I might try dividing the dough and using some as breadsticks next time I use it!

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2011
Not a super banana flavor but a good texture and moistness! I ended up cutting the recipe in half (used 2 eggs), doing half brown/half white sugar and subbed 1/4c apple sauce for butter (the 2T extra I used melted butter) oh and a hint of nutmeg because I like it. They turned out light fluffy and very moist. Knowing my oven, I preheated to 325 and got 16 jumbo muffins after cooking 20 minutes. Perfection!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
These are to die for! I have tried many recipes and this one certainly takes me home! I made these to give to our neighbors for christmas and literally EVERYONE asked me for the recipe! One hint, I use the Organic Cocolate Chips because they stay softer longer...no matter if they're a day old they always seem melted!

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
This is the base for the Bananna Bread my Husband raves about. I add nutmeg, cinnamon, and a dash of ground clove with about a 1/2 tsp to 1 tsp of vanilla extract. I also only use about 2 cups mashed bananna...right before I put it int he over, I sprinkle just a little coating of brown sugar over the top and it makes a nice crunchy layer...but don't add too much, or it will just crumble off when you cut it!

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
I made this for our big family Thanksgiving last year, and I am proud to say I didn't have any leftovers! Even my husband, who does not believe in green beans, ate his share and went back for seconds! Certainly going to be my staple for our next family get-together!

Best Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2008
these certainly were nothing to write home about. They tasted pretty basic (even with adding some vanilla) BUT texture was perfect for me and my husband but I will probably try to find a better recipe next time. and hopefully one with less butter!
