About this Cook
Recently married, cooked as a single girl for alot of years, entertaining for friends and family. Thrilled to be trying out familiar and new recipes with my husband, always on the lookout for healthy, quick meal ideas. Trying to shift away from fussier recipes.
My favorite things to cook
Kosher is my first priority, then I look for fresh, locally grown, organic ingredients. Aim for that healthy life-style, and enjoy eating delicious food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I cook by intuition often, and look to other cooks for inspiration, insight and ideas.
My cooking triumphs
lamb stew for rosh hashanah - morocan style meal. (couscous steamed over seven-vegetable stew) Working on perfecting my challah recipe. Really happy with my chicken soup. (and my husband loves it.)
My cooking tragedies
first chicken soup - my big bro said it tasted and looked like dish water. muddy flavors early on.

Fast Chicken Soup Base
What a great idea! Time saver: I put the bones and carcass into a clean, unused laundry bag (the small mesh kind with a zipper) then just fish that out when the soup has simmered plenty. Slow simmer gives a nice clear broth, and a dash of tumeric adds good color and flavor.

Pumpkin, Sweet Potato, Leek and Coconut Milk Soup
This is delicious, healthy comfort food. I added zuchini, peeled turnips, and used canned pumpkin puree instead of fresh. Also went with the suggestion of more spices, and tried nutmeg, allspice, ginger and curry. No need to puree, just mushed the veggies a little, and enjoyed it a bit chunky.
