About this Cook
I am a proud Navy wife following my husband all over the world!
My favorite things to cook
Simple, traditional meals that feel like they take hours to cook but as really easy. I am fan of the slow cooker (makes everyone look like a rock star in the kitchen) and grilling.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom is French so I love that I learned so many recipes from her. These are incredibly simple meals but have a great deal of flavor.
My cooking triumphs
My homemade vinaigrette (no bottled dressing in this house!), cedar-plank salmon and stuffed cornish game hens.
My cooking tragedies
It took me a long time to learn how to make a decent gravy!

Tuna Noodle Casserole from Scratch
This recipe is definitely a keeper! I try to use as many fresh ingredients as possible in my cooking and as few processed foods as I can. I was intrigued that this recipe did not use canned soup.....and it was not missed! The extra time it took to make the sauce was minimal and the flavor payoff was huge. My only real adjustment was adding the cheese into the casserole and not on top. I used baby crimini mushrooms and a bit extra of the veggies. My husband loved this and said we can have this again anytime - and since it is Lent, we may have it again very soon!

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
My husband LOVED these cookies! I used whole wheat flour in place of the regular flour and found that I needed to bake up to 20 minutes on Airbake sheets. I did chill the dough - the end result were delicious cookies that I am already making again!

Tofu Parmigiana
Yummy yummy. I used a prepared pasta sauce in place of plain tomato sauce. I would make this again!
