About this Cook
I work for the government and bake as a hobby. Would like to open a bakery someday with my best friend who also loves to bake!
My favorite things to cook
My favorite thing I've baked was probably a tuxedo cake. It was a lot of work but well worth it! So yummy! I also love to try new German recipes since we are German (grandparents came here from Germany). And I also love discovering new & yummy quick meals for dinner.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Come from a long line of sweet-tooths, so I love to bake pretty much anything sweet!
My cooking triumphs
Mastering classic Tiramisu the first time I made it - still one of my favorite desserts! Lot of work and very good!
My cooking tragedies
Trying to make my own ladyfingers COMPLETELY flopped. Also had a bad "fluffy peanut butter icing" recipe that was greasy and I ended up pitching. Also iced a red velvet cake too soon the night before Thanksgiving and 2 of the 3 layers cracked in half and fell to the floor.

German Apple Pancake
I thought this was very tasty and my toddler gobbled it up! Here are the tweaks I made or would make in the future: - cut the butter in half, it felt like it was way too much butter - I don't have an ovenproof pan at that temp, so I used a pie pan, which worked out perfectly. In the future I'd saute the apples in the butter/sugar for 10 min or so before baking because even extending the baking time they were a bit crunchy - I don't know if it is because I live in high altitude but once I reduced the temperature, I wound up needing to bake an extra 10-15 minutes - I used two medium sized Gala apples, and in the future I would probably use three - I cut the nutmeg/cinnamon ratio. I doubled the sugar to go with more apples along with the cinnamon but only kept a bit of nutmeg - that is just personal preference. All-in-all this was fantastic!

Blackberry Pie III
This pie tasted AMAZING, I've been looking for a good blackberry pie recipe for some time now. My only change is use cornstarch to thicken, not flour. And I tacked on another tablespoon, so I used 4 tablespoons of cornstarch.
