About this Cook
I am a full time, stay-at-home, wife and mom. My husband is absolutely amazing and works extremely hard to make it possible for me to stay at home and raise our beautiful little boy! I honestly can not ask for anything more!!!!
My favorite things to cook
I LOVE to grill!! My husband taught me how and now I use the grill probably more than anything in the kitchen - even when it is freezing out! I appreciate dinners with very few dishes to wash - since I still wash all my dishes by hand (no dishwasher)!! I love making simple meals, like burgers, steaks, pork chops and chicken on the grill. My son has a dairy allergy, so I am also getting better at modifying recipies to be "dairy free"!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother's side of the family is Italian, so there are some great family recipes for pasta and pizzelles that have been passed down and are made during the holidays. My Grandma Bearss is the best cook I know and everyone looks forward to her holiday meals!!
My cooking triumphs
I would have to say grilling. Several years ago I would have never dreamed that I would grill - it always seemed like a "man's job"! I am so happy I have learned how to use it! Also, cooking and baking for my son, which can be tricky because so many recipes call for some sort of dairy ingredient.
My cooking tragedies
Probably too many to name! I have a strange tendency to never use a timer when I am baking - so frequently cookies come out more done than I would like... Also, when I was learning to grill there were several meals that were undercooked and not very edible.

Vegan Brownies
These brownies were exactly what I was looking for! My son has a dairy allergy so sometimes it is difficult to find sweets that he can eat! My only complaint is that they are very crumbly and messy - not exactly ideal for a toddler, but we make it work! The second time I made these I frosted with a dairy free chocolate frosting! YUM!

Mom's Brussels Sprouts
I was very happy to find this recipe because I thought it might actually make brussels sprouts taste good - and it did! I did not have any nuts and I used fresh brussels sprouts instead of frozen. My husband even liked them - and he is not a big fan of green veggies!

Jordan Marsh Style Blueberry Muffins
I was very pleased with these muffins! My son has a dairy allergy, so I was happy to see the use of shortening instead of butter. I used soy milk in place of regular milk and they turned out great! And they look so pretty!
