Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2011
I rated it 5 stars because of the ease to taste ratio. You can get better dough recipes, but not this easy. I knead it for a minute or two by hand, let it sit for ten minutes in a warm place and then bake it, but it doesn't even need that much attention, you can really just combine everything and bake it right away, as the direction say. I also use it as a foccacia base when I want a quick bread for parties.

Rhubarb and Strawberry Pie

Reviewed: May 15, 2011
Everyone loved this. I used Ruth's Grandma's crust from this site and it was amazing. I wasn't sure about the amounts so I used about 3 cups each of rhubarb and strawberry. I would have liked it a bit more tart, so next time I will use more rhubarb. I also didn't bother with the butter, since many said it was unnecessary. I used a lattice top and sprinkled a bit of cinnamon and sugar on the top. My friend who warned me she didn't like rhubarb even liked it.

Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust

Reviewed: May 15, 2011
For a fruit pie I added in another Tbsp of sugar, since I like it a bit sweeter.

Buttermilk Oatmeal Muffins

Reviewed: May 15, 2011
I've made these according to the instructions and they are great (although better with chocolate chips). I have also made a healthier version of them using 1/3 cup applesauce and cutting the oil to 1 Tbsp, sugar to 1/3 cup, and substituting 2/3 cup whole wheat flour, 1/3 cup unbleached white flour and adding some wheat germ and oat bran. Add in some blueberries and sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on the top.

Favorite Old Fashioned Gingerbread

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
I've made it as is, and with a few changes. The changes make it 5 stars. Double the spices. Used 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup full flavored molasses. 3/4 cup hot water, 1/2 cup milk and an extra egg to make it moister, some people complained of it being dry. Served with vanilla ice cream.

Mocha Walnut Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2010
This recipe is easy and fast and delicious. I put in a touch extra coffee and cocoa, because I like a stronger taste, and I used pecans instead of walnuts, because I thought i would go better. I served it cold, with whipped cream, because that seemed to be what the other reviewers did, and it was great.

Japanese-Style Cabbage Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2010
I didn't use the ginger or garlic that it said was optional, and I found the dressing to lack a lot of flavor. It seems like a good basis, but it needs more taste.

French Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2010
Don't let all the instructions fool you. This bread is simple go prepare. Following others reviews I added less flour and more yeast. Also, it definitely needs more salt. Other than that it would have had 5 stars. It was easy and cheap to prepare. I served it fresh from the oven and it was polished off.

Chili-Lime Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2010
Excellent. My friends raved over this. I marinated for about 4 hours, and cooked under the broiler in my oven. The chicken was juicy, the taste was great, and the pineapple was the best part. The only thing I changed was I added a bit extra red wine vinegar and garlic powder, but I think that's because I used too much lime juice.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
This recipe is a great base, I want to share the changes I made for anyone who wants it a bit healthier. I used 1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour and 3/4 cup white, instead of butter used 1/4 cup oil and 1/3 cup apple sauce (I put in a bit extra cause I was short on bananas) and only about 1/2 cup brown sugar. I also added in about 3/4 tsp cinnamon, and a handful of chocolate chips and chopped pecans.
