About this Cook
Hi, my name is Donna and I am 25 years old. I started cooking when I was 5 years old helpning mom out with breakfast one morning. I was always in the kitchen watching everything she did. By the time I was 8 years old I was making dinner for the family by myself! I loved to surprise mom when she came home from work or came upstairs from doing the laundry. My first meal was breaded chicken. Over the years I started tweaking the family recipes. By the age of 13 my stuffing surpassed Grandma's at Thanksgiving dinner. At 15, my best friend Kelly and I got into baking. We made fudge and everyone loved it! We also made cinnamon buns with our love...Jiffy. When I was away at college...I experimented with different spices and flavors and when I would come home to visit I would introduce mom to what I was doing. Dad loves me for that and even my brother was blown away. While I was living the marriage mistake, my husband loved buying those packets and boxes of side dishes and meal hel
My favorite things to cook
Food!!!! I guess I love meat and adding cheese to just about everything.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving Dinner. It is now my job. I take pride in that.
My cooking triumphs
Thanksgiving 2007. This was the first year I did every thing by myself. I would not let mom touch a thing...except the dishes after hehehe.
My cooking tragedies
Nothing major. When I was 7 I was making brownies and my parents had a microwave/convection oven. I preheated the oven but when I put the brownies in the oven went back to microwave and the house filled with smoke. There was a time when I tried to make treats for my dogs. It was one of the hardest batters I ever mixed. It took forever! They didn't like them. :o(

Grandma's Polish Perogies
The dough was pretty good with these, the only problem I had was after I had them out of the freezer they stuck together. I took them to work and found that I had what looked like a mush of dough, so the next time I took them to work I cooked them first, much better. I also made some different stuffings, potatoes and cabbage, potatoes and meat, sooooo good!

Fried Mozzarella Cheese Sticks
These were great and easy to make!! I double coated with bread crumbs and used a block of mozz. I am always ordering out for these so I made extras and froze them. My dad loved them as well!
