About this Cook
I'm a working wife and mother of one lovely daughter (I'm biased). I would love to open a book/coffee shop one day with homemade cakes and cookies on sale. Ah, to dream...
My favorite things to cook
Anything - I love to make recipes up and tweak old favourites. I also love to bake cookies and cakes (don't really trust shop bought) and prepare and cook seasonal produce - especially in the autumn.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking (tons of) Christmas cookies and decorating with my daughter to give as gifts. We usually do this with a Christmas movie or carols in the background and some wine mulling on the stove - the happiest weekend of my whole year.
My cooking triumphs
My first ever homemade battenberg - it was beautiful. Oh and probably the first Christmas dinner I made after my daughter was born, she was 3 months old at the time and to get everything to the table at the same time and see the look on the other half's face was amazing!
My cooking tragedies
Completely misread a recipe once (I think I was 12) and added 1 TABLESPOON of salt instead of the 1 TEASPOON the recipe called for - still haven't lived that one down with my family!

Hasty Chocolate Pudding
Oh. My. Gosh! I used Bournville cocoa powder and 1% milk and it was awesome. Hubby said it's the best chocolate pudding he's ever had and my 5yo actually licked her bowl clean :) which is a rare thing even with deserts! There's one serving left in the fridge which is calling my name as I type. I think I'm going to try it with organic 70% cocoa powder and chilli flakes and also with Bournville and peppermint extract & crushed candy canes come christmas. Will never use the powdered gunk again! Thank you Debra for this wonderful recipe :)
