Quick Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2013
I upped the lemon in this by adding extra lemon zest and Lemon Extract since I wanted EXTRA lemony muffins - this was great! They rose up perfectly and look so nice. I had wanted to make lemon poppyseed muffins but didn't have sour cream or yogurt on hand, so I was skeptical of how this would turn out, but I am so glad I made it! Next time I will try subbing some applesauce for the oil and I will definitely double it. I did get 12 out of this batch, but they are going to go quickly in my house I'm sure!

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2011
These are good muffins, but I think that the streusel is unnecessary. I did half with the topping, half with just large granule sugar on top and the sugared muffins were much better both in appearance and taste. I had to use frozen berries, but I'm sure the recipe is much better with fresh. I doubled this recipe and got 6 jumbo and 6 regular sized muffins.

Restaurant Style Egg Drop Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2011
Tastes JUST like restaurant soup! I followed advice of other reviews and added eggs last - perfect! It did smell a little gingery while cooking but is PERFECT in every way. So easy, I will definitely be making this with all of my chinese dinners from now on!!

Fudgy Brownies I

Reviewed: May 16, 2011
I checked these after baking for 25 minutes because I thought 35-40 sounded like too much. They were already overcooked :( I think with a 20 minute bake time they would have been good and fudgy, but the recipe as is created a 3 star rating because they are dry and cakey. Next time I'll bake less, and I'm sure they'll come out at least 4 stars.

Sauteed Swiss Chard with Parmesan Cheese

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2011
GREAT recipe! I didn't have wine but another reviewer suggested chicken broth as a sub and it was great. I think the wine would be better, which is why I'm still rating 5 stars. Other reviewers suggested bacon as an addition and I think that would be great, too! Will definitely make this again and again - SO SO good!

Wild Rice and Asparagus Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2011
This was DELICIOUS. A tad sweet, so next time I will decrease the brown sugar to maybe 1/2 T instead of a whole but overall it was very tasty. I'm rating 4 stars because of the sweetness, and because I added extra veggies which made it MUCH tastier. I think as is, the recipe needs more to it to earn 5. If you add other veggies and cut down the sugar, easily 5 stars. I will use this sauce for other stir fry recipes as well.

Allie's Delicious Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
Made with the modifications (w. sauce, mustard) and added garlic salt and seasoned salt - still pretty bland. Next time would make wth american/velveeta or more cheddar, less of the white cheese. I skipped the ham because we didn't have any, but I think that would have helped. Maybe add some green peas or broccoli? Anyway, this recipe needs work.

Chris's Incredible Italian Turkey Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2011
The recipe as is was not that impressive, thus 3 stars. However the sauce was very good and with some modifications I think it would be a good meal for our family. I followed the advice of other reviewers and omitted the milk - this was a good call, the consistency of the loaf was perfect and made great sandwiches the next day. I also omitted the italian seasoning, and next time would go for maybe 1/2# of turkey sausage, and up the plain turkey. I think those are the only necessary changes - the sauce was great, the consistency was good, it just was too italian seasoned for me, and I skipped the extra seasoning even. The oats blended in really well.

Soft Breadsticks

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2011
Super easy to make and easy to adapt. When I made it the first time I put the breadsticks on the pan flat like the directions said to, but they weren't thick enough for me. The second time I twisted the dough so they were more of an actual stick and were much better.

Salmon Chowder

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2011
This was a great recipe, and super easy. I used less salmon than in the recipe because I didn't have enough on hand. It was still great, and I think I'll use that amount next time, too.

Alaskan Halibut Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
This was a really great recipe, I only have one bone to pick with it - the portions. I followed the directions exactly, but the only thing that I felt I had enough of for a 9x13 pan was the noodles. I didn't feel like there was near enough halibut or sauce to cover two layers. I put this into an 8x8 pan and it fit great (with extra noodles) or I could have made just one layer in a 9x13. Other than that, great recipe! Definitely something different to do with halibut and a comfort food for sure!! 2/12 Made this again - doubled sauce/meat, added frozen spinach, upped the garlic and added some fresh parmesan to the cheese layers and it was DELICIOUS - Perfect!@

Halibut Weaver

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
We cook a lot of halibut so I thought I'd try this one for something cheesy and new. It was just too much sauce, too much dill for me. My husband said it was "ok" but I didn't like it enough to keep the recipe or make again.

Butternut Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2010
This soup was GREAT! I didn't have kale, so I just skipped it, and I used carnival squash instead of butternut. I'm sure it's great the way the recipe is written, but it's also very adaptable, so bonus points! I think it would also be good with some bacon sprinkled in it, too. I've never liked squash soups, usually they are too sweet for me, but this was just right. Definitely a keeper, a great soup for a chilly, rainy, autumn supper! :)

Heavenly Halibut

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
Great recipe. We eat A LOT of halibut because we live in AK, and this is a good addition to our recipe box. Quick and easy, with ingredients we always have on hand. I did sub regular onions for the green, and it was just fine. I'm sure it's better with the green onions.
