Crispy and Creamy Doughnuts

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2009
I am giving this recipe 4 stars = 3 for the dough and 5 for the glaze. The glaze is right on the money. The dough however needs tweaking. It takes more than 5 cups flour and does need more salt and sugar in my opinion and it is alot denser. I did not get a light and airy doughnut. I will make again and try bread flour let it rise longer on second rise. Maybe my impatience got the better of me. Overall, worth trying and worth the effort. KK in our area closed and we can't stand Dunk D so if we have donuts I will try these again!

I have made this recipe several times it is AMAZING! I do the dough in a bowl I do not own a Bread Machine. They are excellent! Everyone raves! I do at night and refrigerate pull out in morning and let rise for 30-40 mins on preheating stove. The smell of cinnamon wakes everyone up. Great on weekends for a treat. These are a must try thanks for recipe!!!

Pork Chops to Live For

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2009
This is excellent! My daughter doesn't like pork chops and loved this she practically licked her plate!! I didnt use egg that is over kill, flour sticks to meat well enough. I seasoned meat first with garlic salt and pepper then dipped in flour. Sauted in olive oil. I used 1 can crmo'mush and 1 crmo'chckn, 5 garlic cloves 1 large onion that got added to olive oil to start to carmelize it adds another layer of flavor, use 1/2 cup of milk to deglaze pan scrapping all bits up and adding to soups along with the 2 cups of milk. We ate it with boiled potatoes and green beans. It makes an awesome gravy we made sure to pour all over our potatoes. This is a must try!

Restaurant-Style Chicken Scampi

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
This recipe almost has it right except for the Alfredo Sauce. In the resaturant not mentioned it is a white wine butter sauce. I make this all the time we LOVE it but I do it right! Sauted chicken strips in olive oil 1/4 cup with salt and pepper. Remove from pan leave bits in bottom. Add peppers and onion to pan and saute til tender not too soft, then also remove from pan. Add more olive oil if needed you need 1/4 cup then add 3-4 cloves of garlic minced saute til soft and slightly brown be careful not to burn. Add 3 T flour and wisk then add 1 cup dry white wine to deglaze pan scrapping all bits with wooden spoon. let reduce down on med heat. Add 1 can chicken broth when thick add 1/4 cup cold butter in pieces stir well. Check for seasoning may need addtnl salt and pepper. Add back in chicken and pepper&onions to rehaeat serve over fav pasta! yum yum and the real deal!

Best Beef Dip Ever

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2009
This is a tasty recipe, however you really have to do alot for it to be good which defeats the purpose of a crock pot. Cooking the day before or overnight is a must because the Au Jus has a layer of liquid fat that ruins the stock. So my tips are prepare well in advance, take beef out to shred and pour juice in a big bowl and refrigerate to remove fat that will form on top, then reheat. I made tonight and we had to skim top off with spoons to enjoy. Also as others suggested I put spices in coffee filter and used 2 cans of beef broth with the soy sauce. I also added 4 cloves of garlic and I feel it could of used more. I am sure tommorrow this will make a great sandwich it does need that extra day for extra flavor and to remove all fat from AuJus.

Homemade Banana Pudding Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2009
I doubled this recipe to make 2 pies and I thought the 3 cups of sugar was too much so I even cut back by 1/2 cup and it was still too much sugar, and I am a sweetaholic. I would do 3/4 for one and 1 1/2 cups of sugar for 2 pies. It is sickening sweet. I had to make an extra batch of milk and flour to add and it was still comaville! Other ingredients worked well. I was taking 1 pie to a get together and didnt because it was too sweet.

Totally Awesome!!! I would give these 10 stars**********if I could. You have got to try these. It is so worth it. I used to think that yeast products were too time consuming....however, I have tried several and they are so worth it. These rolls are perfect they are pillowy, soft and highly impressive they turn out so pretty. You are sure to impress everyone who tries them!!

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
This is overall a good concept and tasty. It would be good for a party or open house as no fork is needed. However, it is time consuming. I would not crumble cake warm I did and it was a soggy mess. I would cool cake then add frosting if you need to warm frosting in micrwave about 20 seconds. I also would not use all it was too much...maybe 1/2 to 2/3 of can. It is also mandatory to freeze balls before you dip at least 3 hours. As previous user stated an egg dyer tool works nicely. Decorating stores have chocolate dipping tools as well. Toothpicks are a nightmare. With these tips I will try again and you should too, and try with different flavors.

Rolled Buttercream Fondant

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
This is awesome! My first time ever even working with fondant and it was surprisingly easy! My daughter helped knead and decorate as it was FUN! It turns out like play dough. It will crack if you use too much powdered sugar, when rolling out. I would use right away instead of trying to refrigerate for awhile it causes moisture on fondant. I will definately be using this for many other cakes and sharing with others. Thanks for a great recipe!

Paul's Pumpkin Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2008
This is a great recipe, however like previous reviewers I only used 3 eggs and cut back on baking powder to 1 tsp. It fit perfectly in jelly roll pan and came out very moist. Awesome! I also doubled frosting using 8 oz cream cheese. I will definately use recipe again next time adding raisins.
