The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2011
Great recipe, it made way more than 5 dozen, I ended up with 9 dozen Christmas cookies. I made a few changes per other reviewers, added 2/3 cup more sugar and 1 teaspoon more vanilla extract. I used the Sugar Cookie Icing from this site and with the almond extract in the icing these cookies are BETTER than any bakery sugar cookie!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2011
This frosting was perfect on my Christmas cookies. I took the advice of other reviewers and added a little extra milk/corn syrup. This recipe does not make very much so it's best to double or triple especially if you plan to make some different colors. I will definitely make this again and again.

Whole Wheat Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2011
These pancakes are delicious! I've made them different ways but our favorite way is: add 2 teas. brown sugar to the milk egg mixture, and add 1/4 cup ground flax seeds and 1/4 cup ground hazelnuts to the flour mixture then combine. It may require a bit more milk to thin. When done we top with a dallop of plain yogurt and maple syrup, so yummy and filling.

Strawberry and Spinach Salad with Honey Balsamic Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2011
I was a little worried that the dressing would be too sweet, I used 1 Tbls. Agave nectar and it was soooo delicious. I made it for a dinner party and everyone loved it. Will definately make this again. Thanks for sharing a great recipe.

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
STOP! You don't need to look any further, these are by far the BEST pumpkin cookies EVER! Thanks Gina for sharing. I used one of the pie pumpkin I grew, boiled and pureed, great fresh flavor. As other reviewer suggested, I used 3/4 c. each brown and white sugar, pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon, also added a heaping TBLS. cream cheese to the icing. I will be making this again and again.

Lime Chicken Soft Tacos

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
This was delicious. I made it in the crock pot. Sliced the chicken, used sweet onion, cilantro instead of oregano, put some cumin in and a few splashes of tequilla and used key limes, right before serving I stirred in fresh chopped cilantro. It was polished off even the kids loved it.

Butternut Squash Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2009
Very good, moist bread. I had to kneed in extra flour. Like another reviewer, I used 1/3 of the dough and made cinnamon rolls. They were gone immediatly.

Clam Chowder III

It was pretty good, it needed a little spicing up, I cut up some bacon and fried it first and also added thyme and more pepper and extra clams too.

Blackberry Cobbler II

It was good, next time I will add more flour to the berries as they were not thick at all. Also, this made the dumplings a little soggy

Quiche Lorraine II

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2009
Great recipe, I would definately bake the quiche at 350-400 as it didn't get done for almost an hour at the lower temp. I added mushrooms, sauted with the onion and also some nutmeg and white pepper. Family loved it! Next time I might try adding some shrimp or crab.

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2009
I have never made Baked Ziti until now, it was delish, very similar to Lasagna. My entire family loved this, I never thought to use sour cream in place of ricotta or cottage cheese, it was great! I did as someone suggested and put some of the sauce over the pasta on the first layer, definately a 5 star.

Snickerdoodles III

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
We Loved these cookies. I've Finally found the best snickerdoodle recipe ever. I only make cookies with REAL butter and it's hard to find a snickerdoodle recipe that uses butter. The only thing I would suggest is to slightly flatten the cookies before baking. You won't be disappointed I give it a 10. Thanks for sharing.

Chicken Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
I loved this recipe because it did not require canned soup and also my family LOVED it. DH and 14 Y/O son liked it so much they had 2nds and 3rds! I did make a few changes: I Stewed a whole chicken and used it and some of the stock. I sauted the onion and celery in butter then added the carrots and some of the stock and let simmer until tender. I made the sauce but added some of the broth and left out the cheese. I cooked the noodles in the leftover broth, drained (saved broth for later) then mixed everything together seasoned with thyme and added some sour cream to make it creamy. I topped it with dried bread crumbs and grated chedder cheese. Baked as directed. Will definately make again.

Delicious Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2008
I give it 5 stars with these changes: I used 1-1/2 cups of whole wheat flour and 1-3/4 white flour, added 1/2 teas. more cinnamon, also added another 1/2-1 cup pumpkin, only used 1/2 cup oil but added 3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce, I don't like bread so sweet so only used 2 cups sugar and finally I added 2 teas. vanilla. I'm the kind of cook that hardly ever follows a recipe exactly, but never the less this is a great basic recipe to go from.
