About this Cook
I consider Hawaii my home because that is where I married and started my family. I grew to love the hawaiian food and culture as well as the other cultures on the island.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook pretty much anything. I really like to bake but know for the most part it isn't too healthy, at least what I bake isn't!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I didn't grow up with too much tradition. My husbands family has lots of tradition but in the mainland it is harder to come by the ingredients for the dishes. We just enjoy food and family together!
My cooking triumphs
I don't think I have any "triumphs" in the kitchen but if I can make a dish that my whole family (4 kids & husband) enjoy that is a triumph!!
My cooking tragedies
I think when I was about 11 I found a recipe for hard candy in my mom's cookbook so I decided to try it out. When the candy didn't set I put it in the deep freeze but it still did not work. My mother was oblivious that I had tried this until she found the sugar concoction spilled all over the food in the freezer!

Cabbage Rolls II
Enjoyed this recipe. Thought it would be harder to make than it was since it was my first time. I read other reviews which really helped me. I added a half lb of italian sausage to the ground beef & also doubled the sauce recipe. Didn't cook it in the slow cooker...put them in a baking dish, covered them with the extra cabbage leaves & they turned out perfectly. I will add this to my recipe collection!

Amy's Barbecue Chicken Salad
One of the best salads ever! The whole family loved it. I followed the recipe exactly. I'm sure you could make changes to suit your own taste but I thought it was perfect. Definitely a recipe that we will use again! Shared it with my sister & her family agreed that it's a HIT!!

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue
Simple & sooo delicious! I actually did use a cheaper BBQ sauce that I had on hand & it worked fine. My younger kids liked it on buttered, browned rolls & the older kids liked it with the baked potato. The chicken I used wasn't fully thawed & I think that made the end result a little watery but the chicken was so tender & flavorful that it didn't seem to bother anyone. We will definitely be making this one of our favs!
