Surprise Banana Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2008
It was an amazing recipe. The cake comes out very moist. The best thing was that when it was already baked, i left it in the oven further away from the fire and the top of cake turned out crispy and crunchy while the rest of the cake was soft and moist. It was a perfect balance! Also, we added some granola and chocolat/vanilla sandwich cookies (crushed obviously) to add some chocolate to the recipe. chocolate and bananas (mmmm...) i will probably put in some walnuts (because i didnt have any) and chocolate chips next time.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2010
They didn't fall flat! AMazing! So plump and nice! I replaced butter with margarine and half the chocolate chips were white. I put about 1 1/2 cup of chocolate chips because i don't like when there are too many. Will make these again!

Harvest Rice Dish

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2010
This recipe was really really good! Some changes I made: I used white rice instead of brown, BUT i cooked the two rices seperately before I mixed them together so the white rice wouldnt take the colors of the wild rice. It gave the dish more color. (I tried it before cooking two rices together and it all looked purple...maybe we have a different type of wild rice in Israel.) I also diced the onions instead of having them in 1/2 inch wedges. The brown sugar was such an amazing addition. It was subtle and gave so much taste! I would add a little LESS orange zest just because it was overpowering the entire dish! GREAT overall!

Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2010
Really good recipe! My turkey, whose name was James :-) was excellent! The vegetables inside the turkey didnt cook so well, but were still nice to eat with the turkey. White wine was excellent! I added a lot more vegetables than called for around the turkey including SWEET POTATO! After it was done, I processed some of the turkey juice with all the vegetables and added it to boiled chicken broth. It made for an excellent excellent gravy. Everyone loved the sweet potato taste! Thanks for helping me make my first turkey!!

Savory Mushroom Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2008
It was a bit thick for angel hair. double or triple the recipe for a full box of angel hair. add more milk for creaminess. I think linguine would be a better pasta for it. otherwise, nice taste.

Batman's Best Caesar Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2010
I love love love this dressing! Some changes I made however, was 1 cup of olive oil instead of 1 1/2 for less fat, and replace 1/2 cup missing olive oil with water. Also because when refrigarated, the olive oil became hard, so it became more of a paste than a dressing. The water gave it some movement. I left out the anchovy paste because i hate anchovies. I didnt have mustard powder so I put just regular mustard instead. I like the parmesan a bit chunky so i bought it whole and pulsed it a bit in the food processor instead of buying it grated All in all, really great recipe!! :-) i always have a jar of it in the fridge!

Asian Ginger Dressing

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2014
The only reason I give it a 4 is i thought it was crucial to have sesame oil in the dressing. I replaced 1/4 cup of olive oil for sesame oil. I think I also reduced the soy sauce to 1/4 cup. I didn't have honey so I replaced that with real maple syrup. I don't think it changed the taste much (the honey is there to sweeten anyway). Thumbs up!
