Nutty Pina Colada Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2009
Mostly followed the recipe. Substituted vanilla for coconut extract, left out the salt because I used salted, roasted pistachios which I left whole and used coconut rum instead of just plain rum. Would probably be good with any tropical flavored rum. Fantastic result, can't wait to share with my co-workers.

Chocolate Cherry Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2009
Amazing! I love biscotti and this recipe gave me a perfect result. Next time I'll use dried cherries instead of candied, just a personal preference. The biscotti was crisp, yet soft as well. Great with coffee!

Almost Beau Monde Seasoning

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
I made this "Beau Monde" to use in a vegetable dip and the cloves, cinnamon and allspice were overpowering. Next time I'll pay the $6 and buy the real stuff

Green Grape Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2011
I didn't drain the grapes, so it was a little runny. I think if I would have completely dried the grapes, it would have turned out better. Hopefully it will have a thicker sauce next time.

Made exactly as stated in directions and used whole batch for 1 packet of Taco Seasoning that was called for in a soup recipe. Fantastic!

Cheese and Broccoli Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2011
Excellent recipe. I used it as a guideline as I am a vegetarian, left out the chicken, subbed veg broth for the chicken bouillon cubes. Was a thick and creamy dinner. Next time I'll add some cooked rice and make sure I have some fresh baked bread on hand.

Glazed Almond Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2011
I followed a combination of suggestions. I decreased white sugar to 1 cup, increased almond extract to 2.5 tsp. I also attempted to put 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup applesauce but neglected to add the applesauce. I didn't discover that until after I reviewed the recipe with my mom after my family enjoyed this cake. I thought it was a little dry but adding that applesauce would have cured that! I baked for 45 minutes and sprinkled the bundt pan with sugar rather than flour to create a crunchy topping. Excellent cake!

Buckeye Balls II

Only added 3 cups powdered sugar, came out beautifully! I think almost half a dozen were eaten before I even got to dip them!

Vegetable Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
I didn't have Beau Monde so I followed recommendations for making it from another review. this dip is not suitable for vegetables, chips or crackers. It was sweet and just did not taste good at all!

Apple Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2012
I also substituted 1 c brown sugar for some of the white sugar and added 1 tsp vanilla. I added some caramel pieces into one loaf - overall a delicious fall bread!

Peanut Butter Bars I

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2011
Like another reviewer said, make sure the graham crackers are pulverized otherwise they will give a chunky texture. I used part natural peanut butter and part Jif and only 1.5 sticks of butter. Still had good flavor. I also pre-cut them 10 minutes into the refrigeration process.

Came out extremely moist, molded in a few days. Won't try this recipe again.

Black Bean Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
very easy to make and tasty as well. I also only used 2 cups of vegetable stock. I increased the garlic and substituted kidney and garbanzo beans for black beans because I was all out. A very versatile recipe that caters to whatever you have in your pantry!

Sangria! Sangria!

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
I made this recipe for my sisters bridal shower. I was very excited since the reviews were so great. I was pretty disappointed. It was very tart. I added ginger ale and some extra sugar and used a Merlot. I'm going to try another batch tonight and use less lemon. Hopefully that will work out better.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2010
I was very bummed that these did not turn out as I had hoped. I substituted brown sugar for the white and applesauce for the eggs, so that may have been the problem. I cooked them for about 27 minutes and they were still under-done. Definitely will not be making this recipe again.

Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2010
This did not turn out like I had wanted at all. I would say this was more of a cake than a brownie. I wasn't able to shred the zucchini as finely as I would have liked and it resulted in chunks. I also substituted applesauce for the oil and brown sugar for the white and left out the walnuts. Glad I tried it because I would have loved for it to work out, but will not be making again.

Rich Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2010
Made half of this recipe and still had extra for my 9x13 cake. The overall product was excellent but the amounts were a tad off. I ended up adding about 1.5 c milk and only 4 cups sugar. Possibly will make this again.
