About this Cook
We are empty nesters...I love it when the kids are home so I can actually get out my cooking skills and use them again.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make home made pizza...on the grill. I bake a mean german chocolate cake, and I used to be the muffin queen when the kids are home. I am not much on casseroles, but I love a put of soup.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I make home made cinnamon rolls whenever there is a pot of chili. I like to make mini loaves for Christmas gifts, instead of cookies. I make strawberry bread, zuichini bread, poppy seed bread and pumpkin bread and hand them out to friends and neighbors all wrapped in foil, with curling ribbon on them...several in a gift bag. They are good to have in the freezer when company comes. And the hubs gets the german chocolate cake for his birthday.
My cooking triumphs
Everyone loves my ranch potato salad...and my scalloped potatoes that I take to pot lucks. I have to take them everywhere...or give out the recipe.
My cooking tragedies
I don't have too many, but until my best friend gave me her fail proof brownie recipe I could ruin any brownie I tried. I have had to let the kids eat them out of the pan with spoons and I have had them too hard to get out of the pan. I have had dogs turn their noses used to be a joke in our, scratch...all the same.

Jennifer's Granola
Love this recipe. I add more or less of just about everything depending on what is on hand at the time. I share it as gifts with rave reviews and pass the recipe on when I can.

Herb Rubbed Sirloin Tip Roast
This recipe had too much salt and ruined the roast for me. I should have known better than to use that much salt. I will try it again but with less.

Curried Chicken and Rice Salad
Awesome...I have been craving the flavor of curry and this was just the ticket. My modifications to the recipe were to make it a bit healthier by adding brown rice instead of white, and light sour cream. I also added a pinch of cayenne for a bite and cashews intead of pine nuts...allergic. Love it, can't wait to serve it this evening after the flavors meld.
