Grilled Honey-Soy Pork Steaks

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2013
These were good, not great. Hubby didnt care for the marinade at first, then said it grew on him, but wasnt something he would probably choose to do again

Toddler Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2012
These were really good, tasted like banana bread. I used 4.5oz of fresh squash, rather than baby food jar. Also ground up 1/2 oatmeal, rather than buying oat bran

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2012
Really good! I used my 1.5 tbsp scoop for these, needed to cook about 10 mins based on larger size (got 3 dozen rather than 4). I added half a bag of cinnamon chips. Great! Hubby says its a keeper!

Grilled Sausage with Potatoes and Green Beans

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
I did this in the oven rather than grilling. Made a few tweaks after reading many reviews. Put in 9x13 pan covered with foil. Cooked at 400 degrees for 45 mins, then uncovered and cooked for 15 more mins. Used only 1/2 tsp of salt, but added several good shakes of garlic powder and cajun seasoning to it. Had some great heat! Omitted the oil and just sprayed with Pam. Used turkey sausage to keep it a bit healthier. Will make again!

Fettuccine with Sweet Pepper-Cayenne Sauce

Reviewed: May 15, 2011
If this is 4 servings, then they must be for VERY hungry people!! Made this last night, even weighed out the pasta to make sure I only used 12oz dry pasta, and this was much more like 6 or 7 servings. I did add about 3/4lb of chicken, which I precooked and then just added at the end when I mixed the pasta and sauce. Also used only about 1/2cup of broth and consistancy was fine. Added a bit more cayenne at the end, wasnt spicy enough for our taste. Overall, very good, its a keeper!

Simple Turkey Chili

Reviewed: May 12, 2011
Hubby and I put enjoyed, I took a few recommendations on change, but not much. I used about 1.25lb turkey, that was size of container, reduced water to 1 cup (this was perfect) and added a can of pinto beans as well. I mashed half the pinto and half the kidney beans, and put the rest in whole. Doubled my garlic, all other spices remained the same. I did end up simmering it for about 90 mins, waiting for hubby to get home. Looking forward to leftovers since everyone says this is so much better the next day! Topped with shredded cheddar and reduced fat sour cream.

Cornbread Muffins I

Reviewed: May 12, 2011
I liked these alot, hubby gave them an 8.5 out of 10 stars, which isnt bad considering he is not a huge cornbread fan! I had a medium grind cornmeal in the house, so muffins were a but gritty, next time I will make sure I have a fine grind in the pantry to make these. Will make again!

Famous Chicken Francaise

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2011
This was pretty good. Only thing I really changed was to dip in flour, then egg, then flour again after reading several reviews. The lemon flavor was just perfect. Will make again.

New Orleans Corn Bisque with Smoked Sausage

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2011
FANTASTIC soup and easy to do! Couple changes I did, I used about 3 cups potatoes because the 2 I had were large, why not throw it all in? I also added the potatoes in raw, when I added the corn and sausage, and then let simmer for 20 mins. Used skim milk and thickened up just fine. Added few shakes of creole spice and red pepper flakes for a kick. Will make again for sure, hubby says dont change a thing! To us, it didnt even need parsley or cheese on top.

Garlic Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
I used 2lbs peeled Idaho potatoes rather than red skin. They were very good, but they took much longer to cook than what recipe called for. I cut each tater into about 6-8 pieces, but maybe next time go even smaller so they cook quicker. I gave it the 30 mins covered, and then another 25 uncovered, and they still couldve been a bit more done. Will make again!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
This was really just okay for us. I made as written, except that I too put the glaze on the top of the meatloaf the last 15 mins of cooking. It was just a tad bit bland for our taste. We added ketchup to it on our plate, which helped some, but still wasnt a favorite. Thanks!

Baked Potato Soup I

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2010
This is my absolute FAVORITE potato soup. U typically try and use 2% milk in it and reduced fat sour cream. Still not healthy, but a wonderful treat. Freezes well too, to pull out dinner size portions during the winter. And I would say this makes more like 8 large servings, 6 would be overkill.

Cornucopia

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2010
Came out beautiful!! Little tricky, but worth the effort. Made a beautiful center piece for Thanksgiving, and I laquered mine to keep for Xmas use too. I only ended up using 2 cans of the breadsticks though, I bought 3, I just didnt get into the 3rd. Might have been because I had normal foil, rather than the large, heavy duty stuff, so my size was just a bit off.

OREO® and Fudge Ice Cream Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
Excellent dessert! I tried to make mine just a bit healthier, used Cool Whip Free and Sugar Free chocolate pudding. I also used mint oreos, since thats what we had on hand, and the only ice cream sandwhiches I found had chocolate chips in them. This was an awesome dessert, looks great too, had made for when company was over. Veyr rich though, but its a keeper!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2010
Awesome pie! I used regular margarine rather than unsalted butter. Also, I added a teaspoon of cinnamon, a good dash of nutmeg and a tablespoon of vanilla to the syrup prior to simmering (compensate for adding the vanilla by omiting a tablespoon of that 1/4 cup of water). Used about 6 large apples (Northern Spy) and I coated the apples with most of the mixture, but did reserve some that I brushed ontop of the lattice crust. Hubby rated this a "perfect 10" recipe, which is rare around our house! I did a couple tips I read about to help the crust too - brushed a thin layer of melted jelly in the bottom crust before loading the apples in (I used sugar free apricot) and baked in a glass pie plate, on middle shelf, on a pizza stone.
